Gundam Astraea
Decided to take plamo/gunpla as a hobby and here's the first gunpla I bought (back at January).. Though I did build three 1/144s and two 1/100s a decade back. The previous gunpla I've built was made with my bare hands and no tools at all, decided to clean the nubs but did a half assed job of it XD
This Astraea is sanded, painted on some parts, panel lined and matte topcoat is applied.. So what do you guys think?
P.S. I've messed up the torso XD And no I'm not talking 'bout the green orb but the whole part..

Ahh..it's no HG nor MG,but good & feel hard to do some lines ^|||^
The HG and NG grade is exchangable =P
Looks good, a tad thick on some of the panel lines. Over all not a bad job at all. It almost made me think of getting one.. Almost.
Those thick panel lines were made before I actually bought a 0.02 pen.. But it looks good enough so yeah..
Almost made you get one? I thought you was into UC only XD
That's why I said, "almost". ^_^
XD I remember you posting a few pics in the blurbs. I think the chest part is only noticeable to people who know about it. But yea, Nice build with good panel lines =D
The chest part looks decent enough but yeah.. It is noticeable to those that really know what the real chest looks like.
ahhh i remember the torso incident XD but he still looks good, from what i can see an overall clean build. like the design on Astraea and nice action poses ^^
Torso incident? ;P
Actually I'm not fully satisfied with how clean it looked, could've been better but is okay enough.. Could've done more action poses if I had an action base. Still have to purchase one..
I can see what you mean when you said you messed up. This was one of my first 1/100 models. Knowing what I know now about GunPla, it makes me want to buy another kit and try it again.
What happened with the torso anyways?
Done a horrible job of applying the matte topcoat (was spraying too close), scraped it off with a hobby knife.. Had done this almost a dozen times and the white front part go broken into tiny pieces (see reply to rockleelotus).
Ah, one of my first Gunpla I try to build seriously is similar to yours too, mine being Avalanche Exia. The legs looks so similar, though the upper body has more noticeable difference.
Yes I saw that over at your flickr page.. Did you apply silver/chrome paint on the insides of the orb then paint the outside clear green?
I liked your Astraea. Unfortunately my Type-F fell and had his Blade Casing broken. He's never been the same since. My GN Blade Casing just had to break...I'm also aiming for a clean look but it seems easier with white suits no?
You could always fix it with some plastic cement/super glue then sand it off, finally topcoat it again.. Happened to the thin parts of my RX-178's shield
I think it's harder to make a clean kit with white parts, the imperfections are easily seen unlike with darker colored parts..
