Ninth Dollfie Dream Daughter – Dollfie Dream Airi + DD Gathering Update

Posted by Wolfheinrich [www]

How should I put this, while it wasn’t totally unexpected, I have just completed the preliminary adoption paperwork for Dollfie Dream Airi. While I have make it no secret in the past that I have always adored Queen’s Blade girl Airi and have been waiting for a chance to adopt her, I just didn’t expect the chance to present itself as quickly as it did. I have briefly commented on my desire to adopt Airi if the opportunity present itself in this comment a few days ago if the fee was to dip below 70k yen mark. It was almost like someone heard what I was saying and sure enough, within hours, an auction with a starting price of 63k yen popped up, not only that, two separate auctions for Airi’s maid outfit and her weapon were also available (I haven’t seen those within the past month or so), though with considerably more intense competitions than I would like. As a man of my word, as I have always been, I have my sight set on Airi and decided to go for that auction despite the possible bidding war.

There were three other bidders besides me, my maximum bid just edged the next highest bidder by about 900 yen :) Though they did try to raise their bid twice but I was lucky enough to have set my max bid high enough to make them gave up on their pursue. The final price is about 14% over the Volks MSRP, a little higher than I had hoped, but it’s still ok.

Obviously, besides the fact that Airi come standard with a French Maid outfit (meaning I don’t have to worry about getting a maid outfit for her), she also came with a Scythe! I am one step closer in assembling my harem of french maids! Airi will undoubtedly join the lineup in the Dollfie Dream Theater as soon as she arrive, however, she will not be joining up directly with the rest of the Dollfie Riders, nor would she join up with Dai MS; Airi will be representing a new fraction (yet to be named!). The standard fare of Good versus Evil is just too plain, Airi will be expected to provide the much needed spice to take the Dollfie Dream Theater to the next level (start humming the Kabuto opening song)!

Ok, enough about Airi for now, I hope she will arrive by the beginning of next month if everything proceed according to plan.

On the other hand, Volks USA has just announced the details for Dollfie Dream Gathering a few days ago.

 Ninth Dollfie Dream Daughter – Dollfie Dream Airi + DD Gathering Update

The USA lottery will be accepted from October 24th at 11:00am PST until October 28th at 11:00am PST with delivery expected around Jan. 2010

Volks International also have details that are not yet available in Volks USA site, it appears there are several fairly priced outfit available in October as well.

Notice that maid outfit? It wasn’t there when I checked a few days ago, though I would have preferred a shorter skirt but I guess this will do :P

I will be gunning for Natsuki in the USA lottery as I have been planning and may possibly try to find Moe’s outfit in the aftermarket.

    Wow is it ninth already? ^^; They breed like rabbits, lol. Anyhow... this is the new source of yuri materials you're acquiring? XD Pretty lucky to beat it by 900 yen. I'd be on edge the whole time 0.o

      Airi will be the ninth, breeding like rabbits isn't necessarily a bad thing when they are as gorgeous as they are :D

      Yes, Airi will be the new source of material, she loves the great taste of Dollfie Dream energy! And Escalayer's lily encounter in the world of Infinite Manga Tower would most certainly have some "after effect" as well!

    Wish I was your son or something so I can play with the dollfies too. I saw an Airi DD some time ago and thought that it has a really nice face among the others, or maybe just because I love maids too much ^^;
    So jealous that you managed to get her... even more jealous that you have 9 daughters ^^;
    Hoping for more photos of her when she arrives!

    Dang, 9 DDs. So many. Almost twice my family. XD

    Congrats on your new adoption. I've never seen Queen's Blade but I do like Maids. Especially maids with weapons.

    I think I've hit my limit for now on Dollfie Dreams. 5 is a lot to take care of (can't imagine 9). Still looking for outfits for Haruhi and Saber. Also, looking for another khaki StrikerS outfit for Nanoha so that she can match with Fate.

    For buying more Dollfie Dreams, short of them making Touhou DDs, I'm waiting for a StrikerS Hayate DD if I were to add another addition to my family.

      I watch Queen's blade to learn about Airi's story, I have always been fascinated by Airi's design (French maid with a Scythe and suck life energy out of people by doing mouth to mouth, that's just pure win in my book) so I was really excited to see Queen's Blade being animated last season and Airi did not disappoint me even though her screen time is limited. Her character story is fairly weak at this point but her obedience to the Swamp Witch is a very appealing quality to me.

      Well Detolf isn't an efficient packing system for figures, it's a nice display for china and what not but does not meet my efficiency requirement, I would run out of space if I were using Detolf as well. Billy, on the other hand is 30" wide and allow 4 daughters standing side by side without any problem, plus adjustable shelves allow for a more efficient packing density, Dollfie goes to the lower level because they are tall enough to be visible from any angle, smaller scale figures go higher and allow a more comfortable viewing angle.

        True, but they do make beautiful displays though. I like the full glass enclosures. Very easy to light and stuff. I'm already up to four shelves, so I don't think I'd be switching to another display format any time soon...

      Airi is a much needed addition because Dollfie Dream Theater needed a third independent force differing from the Dollfie Rider and Dai MS. I am hoping she will arrive soon because I have always adored her.

      The USA lottery will close by the 28th but there is "usually" a separate after event lottery which runs a few weeks after the actual event in Volks International site. That should put you somewhere in the mid to late November time frame. The irony is that after event lottery start after the USA lottery but will deliver much sooner.

      Starting price was 63k so it was really appealing to me, I try to not spend over 75k on aftermarket Dollfie because the markup would be too high for me to stomach, not because of the amount of money spent, but more about the unjustified earning just for holding something in a box. However, I do believe 14% markup fee is just about reasonable.

      Airi is crucial to the success of Dollfie Dream Theater and to introduce the much needed yuri element that most of us would love to see! As of right now, Escalayer's lily encounter might not carry sufficient weight to turn the girls to the lily side! I have established personalities for each girls as the story progresses but I am lacking someone with ulterior motives, and Airi is suppose to deliver just that.

      Yeah I am aware that Moe comes standard with S bust so I am going to wait until someone can confirm it fit on M bust before making a move for that dress.

    Congratz on the 9th dollfie!

    Hopefully I'll be getting my first soon but I really don't want to miss out on Natsuki. Do you think the Volks International or USA site will have better lottery odds? or will it probably be the same?

    I live in Canada so there won't be too big of a price difference (USA will be a bit cheaper though)

      Thanks, I will be going for Natsuki too, so good luck to both of us.

      USA lottery should "in theory" provide better odds but my own experience suggested otherwise. I failed to secure Rin in the USA lottery and got her in the AE lottery instead. However, straightly from a "not keep all my eggs in one basket standpoint", I would start from USA lottery > AE lottery with worst case being YJA.

      It's only a matter of opinion on whether USA lottery is cheaper, you have to fork out the money almost 3 months in advance to participate on USA lottery whereas AE lottery would deliver within a week, so you would lose some interest on the money, even though it would be insignificant. AE lottery does provide that instant gratification though, so the extra shipping cost might just be worth it.

      Thanks ^^; Airi is probably my favorite QB character. Well, Airi wasn't on the plan but I been wanting her, cheap auction don't come by that often and there aren't exactly a lot of Airi available so I got to get her when I can. Thinking back, I started in late April but Escalayer didn't arrive until June. So, a little less than 2 a month may be? But I am still on the catching up phase!!! Natsuki will make my 10th if all goes well, but the last Dolpa of the year will decide whether I break the magical 10th mark or not!
