Rin's Loot Post Returns!!! + New Toy!!!
Well after a long time, I return with an actual loot post. It's been so long since I've done one. Today, a lot of packages came and plus it was Black Friday, so a lot of stuff were on sale. I spent quite a bit today alone but I got a new toy which I hope that I get used using due to being a PC user. I have now gone over to the dark side and joined Apple. Now I'll have start and learn how to use this MacBook but if anybody have any tips on MacBooks, please leave a comment below.

I just received some packages earlier on Friday that arrived actually came in 6 boxes. Each box contained one figure. It’s just weird to receive 6 boxes on the same day and each box has only a figure inside. Well, this is what I get for separate shipping on many of my pre-orders. Well, the figures I got were Kotobukiya’s Fate and Nanoha formal dress version, Max Factory Miku Append, Alter’s Ui Hirasawa, 2 Alter’s Kasugano Sora and Cospa Kosaka Kirino. Yes I did say 2 Kasugano Sora figures. I plan to keep one and sell the other one at my store at DTAC.
Next up are my calendars for next year. These are all desktop calendars. Due to lack of room for a giant poster link calendar, I decided to buy a desktop calendar as it’s small and fits on my desk really nicely.
Today was Black Friday and a lot of things were on sale. Most I already have or have bought over the past couple of days. Today I was only able to buy a few DVDs and Blurays for a good price. I can say for sure all the Blurays (with the exception of Horrible Bosses) were under $20CAD and some being only $5CAD. Plus the DVDs I got, none were over $15CAD. With those prices on some of the movies, I couldn't resist in buying them!!!
Now on to the main attraction. This my brand new toy I got today. Due to Apple putting this bad boy on sale, I decided it was a great time to buy it. Over the past couple of years, many people have told me that Apple is better than PC but due to financial and me just buying figures all the time, I couldn’t afford it. Now I can finally experience the MacOS myself. It’s going to sure take a while until I get use to using the MacBook Pro. By no means I’m going to stop using PC. My main PC is still my main computer but I plan to use my MacBook Pro for all my little side projects like Just Another Gaming Review and other small projects that’ll announce soon enough.
Well, a little about the MacBook I just got. This is a 13-inch MacBook Pro with 2.8GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 processor and 750GB 5400-rpm hard drive. The graphic card is Intel HD Graphics 3000 with 384MB DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory with the main memory at 4GB. After reading around a bit on what type and which processor was better, I decided to go with the i7 (with a little influence from Danny’s Post on the MacBook Air). I was intending on getting 8GB of RAM but they ran out of stock. Plus the deal was only for Friday so I decided to just buy the 4GB model.
I can’t wait to start using it and figuring out how exactly to use this MacBook properly. If anyone has any tips, shortcuts or random facts on MacBooks, be my guest and leave a comment below.
I believe this loot total was around $2200CAD. Most of it is due to my MacBook Pro which cost around $1700CAD (misplaced my receipt somewhere) with the figures totaled around $400 and the DVDs total around $100CAD. So I spend around $2200CAD this week alone (November, I’ve sent way too much). It’s a lot considering I’ve spend around a good $3000CAD this month alone (gaming month).

I agree with you on that. But they still have their own pro's and con's.
Their pro is only the unique of OS/X which is derived from the Darwin UNIX. That's what make Apple Computer unique. But still with that amount of money, I can build a hackintosh, and I am a happy man.
I didn't say Mac is better than the PC. I'm still going to use my PC but will use the Mac for side projects and such.
Oh don't get me wrong. I am referring to those people who said that Mac is better than PC.
But what side project are you working on with the OS/X? Final Cut Pro?
I currently working on video reviews about video games similar to those reviews done by people like Angry Joe or AVGN. Also thinking about going into trying hand in special cg effects.
Photo editing is also part of the reason as many of my photographer friends use Macs to edit their photos.
I would also like to add that I'm neutral when it comes to PC and Macs. I like both of them and will stay that way for a long time. I view both sides have good things to offer but is also flawed as well.
i wouldn't say MAC is better than PC cuz a MAC hardware is the same PC hardware, the difference is the software code. it all comes down to which software u use most.
i only use MAC laptops cuz they r the best form factor on the market e.g. all metal body/small foot print. i will never use a MAC desktop cuz it doesn't suit my needs or demand.
my main machine is a PC cuz i find the software i used most is freely available on the PC and i've got 4 HDs in my machine 3x2TB & 120G SSD and i do own 2 macpros.
1 more thing, i do enjoy reading ur blog about comiket, it helped me during comiket 80 about crossing from the west to east hall = ) nightmare....
That's pretty cool. I own 1 PC, a Asus laptop (both have Win7) and a MacBook Pro. My PC currently has 6HDs with a total space of 7TBs. I might add another 3TB HD later on.
The crossing from the west hall and the east is a nightmare. It's hot in there and it's a slow walk!
Also read your Japan posts, damn nice night shots!!! How you do those shots?
Also about Comiket, I'm pretty sure I posted something on how to get the bags on my Easy Guide To Japan Comiket Part 1 and 2. You mainly get those bags at the popular sections at Comiket. Mainly the commercial booths. There are doujinshi sellers that also have bags but they are limited. From your post, it seems you went on the wrong day. The best day for anyone (most people new to Comiket) to go to Comiket is day 2.

I am going to get a Mac Mini soon(well, I hope soon) and worked with IMacs at my fathers factory, the graphic designers there use them...and yes, it is something to get used to...but it was great for working with Photoshop and others...!
But of course, it is hard or almost impossible to find a wide range of good games for Mac...
I don't plan to play games on the Mac but it wouldn't hurt to put one game in there just in case.
I plan on using Final Cut, Imovie and other programs for video editing, photo editing and using photoshop on it.

Hisashiburi Rin! Congrats on your loot and new laptop. Something that might interest you is that a lot of Macbook Pro owners are replacing their slow 5400rpm hdds with a fast SSD and seeing awesome performance from their laptops. Youtube has a bunch of videos on this including tutorials so you might want to check it out. BTW, any plans yet for your next Japan trip? Going back next April myself. Also, loved the Yurikamome post you did as it brings back some fun memories of Odaiba and with the life size Gundam returning, I have something to look forward to. Have a nice weekend.

Speed is good but since it's my first Macbook, I'll take it easy and first figure out how to use it properly.
Well, I plan on returning to Japan in July next year for a month long trip if not slightly longer than a month since I didn't go this year. Got a lot of places I plan to go to (Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, Yokohama, Nara, Tokyo, etc) and will for sure go to Comiket again!!! It's great to hear that the Gundam Statue is returning to Odaiba and the great thing about that is that I'll be staying in Odaiba again. I can't wait to go back to Japan!!! I miss eating at Matsuya and Yoshinoya!!!

I went to Kyoto and Osaka in 2010 and lately have been thinking of visiting again but getting there is so damn expensive even with the Japan Rail Pass. I miss so many foods its insane and I did finally try your fave Pepper Lunch at Yodobashi Akiba. Good stuff! I wish I could meet up with some of the folks here in Japan and do plan on meeting Alex from Subtokyo(check out his Youtube channel). Can't wait to see what your pics and loot look like next year as you'll have a hard time topping your last trip. LOL.
I know Alex as a friend and knew him before he started his SubTokyo stuff. Will for sure meet up with him again later on when I actually go back to Japan. I also know a few other people and even met Danny back in 2009. When I do go to Japan, I try my best to make friends with at least a few people going to Japan. If you want, delay your trip to Japan till July then we all can meet up!!!
It is expensive just to go to Kyoto. The Shinkansen cost a good 13000yen just for one way. From Kyoto to Osaka is pretty cheap at 500yen one way. I tend to not use the rail pass as I can't take the Nozomi. I rather spend a bit to get to my destination faster.
Pepper Lunch is so awesome and I wish there was one here in Toronto!!! All we have is a few Japanese restaurants and most of them is all you can eat sushi...
I already put in my vacation request so its too late for changes(yeah, I do it that far ahead LOL). I used the rail pass last year only to find that buses rule in Kyoto. The all day pass for 500yen rocks though.
I miss ramen the most myself, especially the miso ramen. I can buy the dried noodles with miso flavor at a small Japanese market but its not the same without the pork, menma, etc. I do wish they had the curry flavor cup noodles which I'm addicted to.
BTW, any big purchases in mind next year? Kinda hard to top that guitar.
Who knows. It all depends what I see and feel like getting. Most of my purchases in Japan are kind of random and are on the spot purchases. Lets see if I can beat the previous loot amount I did the previous years I want to Japan.
In general I miss one of the meals at Matsuya. It was a plate of beef and a bowl of rice. The beef was sooo good!!! I miss it damn much and think I'm going through withdraw...
I usually hit Yoshinoya because there is no ticket machine and there was one close by my hotel. I was even able to use my Anime Nihongo to order the jumbo beef bowl. LOL

I think it's because of the look of the figure that turned a lot of people away. I know a few hardcore figure collectors and Vocaloid fans that didn't get it due to how it looks...
i thought it might have something to do with the figma coming out at the same time
The expression on her face is a big turn-off for me. Miku should be a happy, smiling girl but that face just screams "B!TCH!!"
