Русалочка (Rusalochka)
I originally bought this wig to try out for Lara, but instead used the grey version. This green version brings to my mind images of rusalki. (Cue Dvorak's 'La Luna'!) According to Russian myth, rusalki (plural of 'rusalka') were usually drowned maidens who haunted lakes luring young men to their deaths. ('Rusalochka' would be a 'little rusalka.' Interestingly, since there is no 'mermaid' in Russian, the Disney film 'The Little Mermaid' became 'Русалочка' ('Rusalochka') (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLZ8vCot8gw).
Sara also sports the white kitty hoodie. =^-^=

цвет больше Мальвину напоминает
Also, while certain folklore says Rusalkas are drowned maidens, they do also favor sitting high in oak trees (and a famous mention of one in a Pushkin poem)
_ahem_ I'm gettin carried away... This wig is very lovely!
Haha. Good to see I'm not the only one who knows some Russian culture. Are you a fluent speaker or just study for pleasure? & have you heard the Russian dub 'Tangled' yet? Absolutely fabulous.
last Disney cartoon dub I enjoyed more than anything was "Tale Spin" cartoon.
BUT "Poor Unfortunate Souls" from Little Mermaid in russian is BEST EDITION EVER!! (coming in 2nd close is "Once upon a December" from Anastasia)
nobody can sound sweeter than Mandy Moore as Rapunzel, sorry dub people
Yes, I do prefer Mandy Moore when all's said in done, but Russian songs are just so fluid. & I cannot agree more about "Once Upon a December." I ended up importing the DVD for that song alone.
heh, still on search for mp3 for that song. The fact someone sat down and wrote lyrics based on whats going on in movie instead of straight on translation of, lets face it, not that good of a song originally...
Personally, I find russian Rapunzel awful, but Mother Gosel is fine
E-mail sent. :)
thank you! ♥
I love Russian culture too ,but I don't speak the language ..T_T Just wanted to tell you that I enjoyed your introduction and that your girl is very pretty ! ^_^
Thank you very much, Salica. Glad to hear someone else enjoys Russian culture beyond 'CCCP' and vodka too.
