MG 1/100 MSN-06Y "Yellowbird" Yellow Sinanju

Posted by gaijingunpla [www]

'Yellow', he thought.

This is my submission for the Bandai World Gundam Competition. It's my wholly unique Sinanju dubbed 'The Yellowbird'. The idea for this scheme was inspired by the 80's iconic car, the RUF CTR "Yellowbird".

This was built as part of the GAF SGBP (Gundam Australia Forums Sinanju Group Build Project).
In order of completion:

MSN-06E "Ebon Enforcer" by Busterbeam.
MSN-06B "Blue Berserker" by http://lupes.wordpress.com/,
MSN-06T "Twilight Terror" by An American Salaryman in Tokyo.
MSN-06Y "Yellowbird / Canary of Death" by Gaijin Gunpla (that's me!).

Painted using Tamiya and Mr. Color Spray cans

Body: Yellow/Semi-gloss Black/Gold
Frame: German Gray
Internals: Gloss Aluminum
Thrusters: Semi-gloss Black (inside)/Silver (outside)

Rifle and Bazooka: German Gray/Gun Metal/Gloss Aluminum

Aurora stickers used on rifle, bazooka

Mono-eye is HIQ parts Deep Green mono eye.

Seam lines on shoulders have been removed. Decals are a combination of Samuel Decal, Wave, and old MG Hi Nu gundam decals. The decal work was very intensive and time consuming. As no black decals exist for the Sinanju I had to create the markings myself.

I started building Gunpla about 8 months ago and have been working at improving my techniques. I only build MG kits and this is by far my best work. This kit took me over 2 1/2 months but I enjoyed the whole process. Of course, I am glad it is done and over with, but the build was so enjoyable I may do another one.

As for what I would like to see in the way of future Gundam kits... I am very new to the world of Gundam and Gunpla so don't know enough to say. Continue your present course, Bandai. Stay gold.

Easily the most unique colour choice for a Sinanju I have seen. Near flawless execution too! The decals are so well balanced, and the minute detail is beautifully executed. Such a big effort from a relatively inexperienced modeller? High potential and deserving of a place imo.

Wow finally some really clear shots.. Been following your blog for a while and I've seen most of the WIPs.

This Sinanju is almost perfect imo, I say almost perfect because the gold looks off to me maybe something shiny and has much more gloss.

    Giving it a 9.5/10

Outstanding effort. You will be a force to be reckoned with should you stay your course.

Thanks Sonar! (and everyone else for the commments!) If I do stay the course and continue to get better it would most likely mean I have to venture into the world of airbrushing. Not in my budget at the moment so I will have to do the spray can thing for a while yet.
