MG 1/100 MSN-06T "Twilight Terror" Sinanju

Posted by American Salaryman [www]

This is my submission for the Bandai World Gundam Competition.

This was built as part of the GAF SGB (Gundam Australia Forums Sinanju Group Build).
In order of completion:

MSN-06E "Ebon Enforcer" by Busterbeam.
MSN-06B "Blue Berserker" by Lupes,
MSN-06T "Twilight Terror" by An American Salaryman in Tokyo (me).
MSN-06Y "Yellowbird / Canary of Death" by Gaijin Gunpla.

You can see my WiP posts here, as well as see the forum thread at GAF.

The backstory: Captain Twilight (トワイライト大尉) was one of the mysterious ace’s that Neo-Zeon fielded from UC 93~96. He Piloted the MSN-06S”T” and was known as the “Twilight Terror” due to both his name, and his mobile suit’s unique coloring. The deep blue’s of his Sinanju unit, bordering on black, gave Twilight the advantage of being not only hard to see visually, but also hindered the ability to catch his unit on sensors. While not much is known about the man, his unit became to be feared. “After the brightness of battle comes Twilight” as it was whispered among Londo Bell members, as well as Neo-Zeon troops. Towards the end of the Laplis conflict, Twilight’s Sinanju was damaged in battle and he drifted out of the area of conflict. His, and his mobile suit’s whereabouts, are still unknown to this day.

The details: Painted with Tamiya Spray Paint Cans

Body: Deep Metal Blue
Frame: Light Gunmetal
Black parts: Dark Mica Blue, Glossy Pearl Clear
Trim: Silver Leaf, and Plated Silver Gundam marker
Booster Tanks: Gunmetal
Thrusters are after market parts, mainly Model Up and AKO hobby, painted Gunmetal
Rifle: Gunmetal and Light Gunmetal
Bazooka: Metallic Black

I used glossy clear for the all the parts, save black pieces, in which I used glossy pearl clear.
I then applied water slides, followed by glossy top coat.

As name and blog indicated, I'm an American who's working in Tokyo, an aside from doing a couple of models when Gundam W was shown in the states several years ago, I've only really been doing Gunpla for about a year. This was the first kit that I sat down to really try and paint and make something of my own, some mistakes here and there, but it came out fairly good. I'd like to do more, but as always, it's a matter of time, money and space, which I seem to have none of!

As for kits I would like to see:
1. Perfect Grade Unicorn
2. Master Grade AMX-109 Kapool

I'll be posting more pictures as I take them over the next couple of weeks, but for the time being, here's a few.

Need more dramatic Poses.. but the design is good... Did you modify that model kit?

Poses are something I need to work on, still some time before the deadline.
As for modifications, the only thing done was to use metal parts for the waist power cables, as well as for all vernier thrusters.

Awesome...almost similar with Busterbeam's but yours has silver lining, which is more consistent with the black. I'm really impressed at how you all paint the whole Sinanju.

That is a great colour combination and makes the Sinanju look fierce. Good work.

Definitely a very menacing Sinanju. I'm really glad too see the depth of your paint job coming out in some of those pics. It is such a majestic blue, and not everyone can get that result from that Tamiya can from what I've read. This sinsnju deserves a place imo. The silver leaf is done so precisely and it compliments the blue so well.
