On the old toys, Ultra Magnus was a trailer that made a body to cover a white Optimus Prime. So this guy would be considered a armorless (naked) Ultra Magnus.

Googled a bit and found out that Ultra Magnus is sort of a counter part of Optimus Prime when he was out of the picture. The guy made a huge contribution to the TF Universe.

        Which one do you want?

In terms of the original G1 Cartoon, Ultra magnus was a separate character who was introduced around the time of the animated movie.

In terms of toys, Ultra Magnus was originally intended to be an upgrade to optimus prime, where Prime would gain the ability to combine with his trailer, hence why the white magnus is basically a recolour of prime. They revisited the idea of prime combining with his trailer in the powermaster series of toys.

And from around the early 2000's the japanese transformers car robots (which was imported to the west as robots in disguise) introduced the idea that Prime and Magnus were brother transformers, an idea which has since stuck on the major media like the comics.

But basically, the masterpiece Magnus is a white prime, minus the trailer. But I'm happy with my prime. Love the red and blue!!

Ultra Magnus is just a recoloured version of Optimus... He's the Second-in-Command, no?

I prefer retro designs actually... The newer ones are too... Fancy...

Retro for me. I prefer robots that have obvious bits of them sticking out so they look like they transform into something (i.e. Prime's chest is obviously a truck face :P)

Hmm nice. Definitely prefer retro and animated than the movie version.
Bought masterpiece Optimus Prime (MP1) for my brother. But kept Starscream (MP3) and Megatron (MP5) for myself but I can never match my brother's Optimus Prime collection.

Retro for the win, for sure. I <3 ManyFaces (was that the characters' real name, or am I getting confused with Family Guy not wanting to be sued by using the real name). Anyway I traded 3 Gi-Joes and 1 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle figurine just to get my hands on "ManyFaces".

I actually had that figure! (the original one anyway)

The old designs are great, but I mostly like what they did with them in the new movies. Two things that bug me though are Optimus without his face mask (it looks like they put his mouth in the wrong spot), and I think they did a rather poor job on the new Decepticon designs (too pointy).

I like the later Ultra Magnus. The one where he transformed into the car transport, though I must admit this one does look cool. I remember the first Transformer I ever bought: Thundercracker. He cost me $13, probably about 20 years ago. This one, though I might get if I had the money.

manyfaces was part of the He-Man line given his name by orko in the cartoon series. but i like the new alternator design transformers, the movie ones were great on film but the toys aren't that great. as for magnus i think there getting too carried away with the repaints and calling them either Ultra Magnus or Nemisis Prime Magnus always had a completly different face than prime but nearly every version they put out is just a prime head painted white. Extra Laziness for the win.

Retro all the way. I still try to find the old American transformers at flea markets and garage sales.
