1 month on...AFA 2011 Doll Display Booth, [Of Dollfies & Dreams]

It's been a month since Anime Festival Asia 2011 where some doll-lovers presented a Doll Display Booth. Finally I haul my lazy ass to post *some* o-make 'never seen before' pics up, mostly tomfoolery after-event pics. Some doll pics are grabbed from friends' posts or Facebook albums, particularly Alvin's awesome new site and post --- http://fujiwarayukino.com/?p=688 .

I would like to extend my thanks as co-manager of the Doll Display Booth to 3 groups of people. (heck, our grouping is pretty small, everyone overlaps anyway). And of course to Danny-san himself for gracing the booth and parking Mirai DD there, too~

1) Financial contributors.
As a doll grouping, we do not even talk of rank or seniority or how many dolls you own, but *these* are the people who gave financial muscle to fuel the entire project/dream.
- Gordon, who's also co-manager and did more work than me this year.
- BK, the wackiest Touhou-freak I know. The tallest too.
- Sephora, daddeh of the Baka San-nin trio of Saber Alter, Saber Lily and little Louise.
- Wen Jun, who only just started on his DD journey with Reimu-chan.
- Yao Ting, otaku par excellence, who taught me how to use iPhone recently... *blushes*
- Mizu, who I think is getting crazier and crazier in Dollfie Dreams
- Myself. Bleh.

2) Members who brought dolls down.
This year saw far more DD contributors than last year, and while it's less than HK Dollism Plus events, AFA2011 saw a peak of about 40 dolls displayed at one time. Photos of course show less, but I'm mindful of statistics...

Each member's doll contributions is important and appreciated. This is what the entire project is all about. Displaying your loved musume in her finest for the general public to admire. While I lost track of who was there, I'd prefer to mention some really new people who took part. Xiao An (Sasara+Saber Lily) and Dream Particle (Yukino). There's also a guy from Australia who brought custom Shanghai and Patchouli.

3) Members who gave their time and effort
Behind the scenes, there's always a lot of work to do. Logistics-wise and event-time. It's nice of members to stand and supervise the booth when they can just swan around and enjoy AFA instead. Here, Wen Jun and Iwa were superb. I remember the wood katana Wen Jun used to persuade people not to touch the dolls.

Alvin's help was critical in crafting out the Display Tier. Foamboards by him. Ju Teng supplied the pillars for the Tier too, though he couldn't be there at the booth proper. Gordon rushed out the posters to fill the wallboards to cheer up the display, as you can see. Most strikingly, Sephora rushed out a grand Dolls-in-Singapore banner featuring all the doll-stuff we all do and love~

Though this post is seriously late, I hope everyone had fun.

Response was pretty good. This is considered somewhat low-peak.

I'm proud of this one. Even the side of the booth, there can be a place to take photo! The Miku tapestry hides the mess of doll bags behind the display. And I got 10+ questions about it and some offers to buy it outright... hmm..an offer of USD150 and I'll consider it.

A worthy successor to my tired Miku would be Christabel's Sakura Miku. My hat off to her vision and the tailor.

My custom Demonbane pairing. Konomi as Etheldretha, and my custom pissed-off-looking Al Azif. Tsun Grimoire is tsun grimoire...

But, its Christabel's illya MDD as Ika Musume who really stole the show in the MDD sector.

On my invitation, Arayden brought his Saber Original. I knew many otakus in SG had never seen Saber Original DD in the flesh, so I made the request. I'm really glad he obliged.

I do have some nicknames for the first Saber DD, as it has become necessary to separate from the glut of new types of Saber DD out there. Should it be Saber Original, Saber Blue (like Johnnie Walker BLUE label) or Saber Regal (like Chivas REGAL) as she really IS regal..? *wonders*

My nomination for Best Doll is actually among the simpliest. James's Marisa, in a crisp AKB48 sailor-fuku.
