Quick Introduction

Allow me to introduce my beloved girl, Naomi!

Hello, all! I'm Kanji Calligraphy, and this is (obviously) my first-ever post here at figure.fm. I've stalked this place for awhile and really wanted to join sooner, but it didn't seem very productive to have an account lying around with nothing to post on it. I'm still pretty new to figure-collecting, having only been introduced to Nendoroids, figmas, and the like a little over a year ago, but I love it all the same. Although I do like scale figures, I don't own any (due to price, lack of space for them, etc.). Good Smile Company and Max Factory's figures just have more appeal because of their customization.
After viewing a "Danny's Corner" post on 1/3 scale Azone dolls, I slowly gained an interest in the entities that were commonly known as "dollfies". Explorations of his posts led me to discover Dollfie Dreams, which I instantly fell in love with. They were everything an otaku could ask for: an extremely pose-able, customizable, 1/3-scale anime-esque figure. But it came at an extremely high price...literally. Much planning, careful calculation, research, and serious persuasion yielded cooperation from my parents to help me obtain my first Dollfie Dream.
I'm also slowly attempting to figure out how to manage the posts in relation to text and photo placement, so any advice on how to do so would be greatly appreciated. ^^;

    Congrats on joining the DD club, and welcome to figure.fm.

    As for posting, I usually uncheck the "visible" checkbox when I first upload a new post, then use the inline edit function to add the text below each photo. After I'm done I check the visible box at the top so people can read it. That way people don't read a partially finished post.

      Oh, thank you very much! Your method will definitely work out well for some story posts I'm working on. :3
      I just have a really silly question...how do you get text above the first photo? I'm having a bit of trouble with it... ^^;

        If you have more than one photo, your description (what you enter when making the post initially) will appear above the first photo. If you only have one photo it appears at the bottom and I don't know of any way to make it appear the top. If you find one please comment on a post of mine (or here) and let me know.

          Aaaah, that makes a little sense. A bit strange the way that works out. Thanks for the info. :] I'll be sure to inform you if there is such a way.

    Welcome! ... and another joins the DD(ark) side! ^_^

    Is your musume a custom? She kinda looks it. (I'm usually wrong, though :) Both my girls are.

    Maiya: Konbanwa, Kanji-san! <bows>
    Glenda: Good evening, and pleased to make you acquaintance. <curtsies>

      Yes, she's a custom HDD-04 head. It's my first time so I hope she didn't turn out too bad. ^^ I wish her blush had turned out a tad darker in the picture, though.

    Adorable. :O As for placing texts.. I usually type up the post in a txt file.. edit it for grammar.. Then decide where the text should be split up and placed under what photo. I'll usually write "[Photo of e-mail screen]" or "[Random pic from collection that goes with post]" in between paragraphs/comments. Trial and error from my previous posts on here, which aren't that many to start with, since I don't have my own DD yet. I have big plans for story posts once I do get Saber Alter though. All I need really is the DSLR I've been eyeing for a while. >< Anywho! Welcome to figure.fm!

      Oh, and you might wanna go into your profile settings and have e-mail notifications checked so it'll send you an e-mail every time someone responds to your posts. I had it checked off at first, but when it got knocked off the news feed I stopped checking it. Then when I went to look for it I saw 3 new responses I didn't know of. lol

      Neat! I never thought to do it that way! That'll be pretty helpful. :3
      Ooooh you're getting Alter~ Can't wait to see some owner shots! I really wanted her but price and arrival time separated us, unfortunately. Yeah, if only good cameras weren't so expensive. >_<
