Hi everybody,
My name is The Envoy and I have been around since late May. Some of you may recognize me from the old Dannychoo where I uploaded my coverage of the Daicon 2009 in Malaysia and other miscellaneous Japan-related stuff (or not). But I digress, on to my intended topic:

What is are the pros and cons of living in a 2D or 3D world, in your personal opinion?
Definitions (for non-otaku):
2D = the world of anime, games, manga, fiction in general (which for the purposes of this discussion can be extended to western counterparts as well)
3D = the real world.

You need a 4th answer here, I live in the 3D world but I practice 2D world ideal in the 3D world.
Would you care to elaborate on that, what are the 2D ideals you speak of?
The confines of 2D and 3D means nothing to me, I just do what's right in my heart and care little what people consider as norm. I practice what I preach, it's hard to say what it is that I do, but my behavior shows what I am.
That sounds the same as me ^^
I'd prefer living in the 2D world. I think that we could all agree that the fictional world is by far more interesting. I also find 2D to be more visually appealing. Though there are more supernatural dangers, there are also more safety precautions as well, so it all balances out.
I prefer living in icosahedral dimensions. For whatever reason, I like their lighting and sometimes they smell like pumpkin spice candles.
best answer ever
I like living in the 3D world, although the "ideal" world is fictional, so the 2D world would be ideal. As much as I'd love to be some hero in an anime/movie/game or another, I just like being me.
for me there are times that I prefer the real world. probably because if things tip over for my favor. Vice versa 2d world, a realm where nothing could go wrong. So I place the libra scale on this comment.
There's a saying by Dr. Seuss.
You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams
I agree with Wolf on this one.. Strive to do the right thing, in a not so right world
But, I really prefer the 3d world. Here I can enjoy myself the most, I think.. cause here is where those things that truely interact with me exist. A book is a wonderful escape.. but if all you ever try to do is escape from reality.. then, you never truely achieve anything. So I honestly prefer to live here in the world that is 3d.
When I think 2D, I think of the visuals of Ar Tonelico II and Mana Khemia II. It just appeals to me for some reason.
I think i'll just wait until we spend the day in 3D, and spend the night in (2D but 3D)?, you know like Lost Saga (Yureka manhua), .hack, those online game played while you are sleeping. Then i'll slave myself at day and enjoy to the fullest at night.
Im more of a 8 bit or 16 bit type of person....
As fun and entertaining living in the 2D world might sound, I would still choose 3D. I enter the realm of 2D to let off some steam but I know that I can't stay there forever. I need to resolve my problems in the real world because this is where I actually exist. I can't force myself to believe that I can somehow insert myself in the 2D world because we all know that is impossible.
Also, the 3D world is full of challenges. I liek challenges. It makes me STRONGER!!! *rips shirt off* XD
