Marvel Bishoujo Storm & Tekken Bishoujo Alisa Bosconovitch

Posted by Syzich [www]

A while back when checking for new figure releases, I realized that I hadn't seen a new Shunya Yamashita figure released or announced for a while. Then not too long ago, I see these two figures up for preorder. I already knew about the Alisa Bosconovitch figure, since she was announced some time ago, though only concept artwork was available at the time. The Storm figure was a welcome surprise and addition to the Marvel Bishoujo line. As nice as it is to have more and more Bishoujo figures released, I'd still like to see more figures of Shunya Yamashita's original work. That said, I'm looking forward to adding these two to my collection. ^_^

I'm not sure about that storm, and it saddens me. She looks short , almost chibi like, not sure I like the choice of costume either, but since I haven't played tekken much I have no problem with Alisa. I really need to start playing my games.

I hadn't really noticed the height/proportions of Storm, until you mentioned it, but now that I take a close look, she does seem a little short.

it's almost as if they said, she's too tall with her arms up and proceeded to squash her down with the palm of a hand.

While Yamashita is a great artist, his own character designs sometimes lack variation.

Are you referring to the way he draws his faces or the actual designs of the characters clothing and whatnot. If you're referring to the faces, I somewhat agree with you there. But then again, there are more than a few artists with distinct styles whose characters look very similar. Tsukasa Jun, Tony Taka, Masamune Shirow, Eiichiro Oda and Akira Toriyama come to mind.

No the faces are fine. I mean the girl+sword+pose combo.

Figure manufacturers need to spice it up a bit.
