Sydney Kinokuniya
Last year, I moved from Indonesia to Sydney Australia to get my college life.
I had many difficulties to find some otaku stuff in here.
But I finally found a nice place to fulfill my otaku needs, well, only the manga though..
Still wondering where can I find some figures here..

Hey there! I live in sydney too and love kinokuniya when i'm at city and need a read. So jealous of your two cameras cos they are something i would die for. For otaku stuff, if you go to hobbyco at QVB they will have nendoroids and figures, the stuff comes and goes every few weeks which made me so dissapointed when i missed out on tsumugi nendo ;-; theres also a place at market city chinatown on level 1 called game infinity which has some stuff. they had a psvita import in a display case last week @__@
Hi there.=D
Other than collecting figures, my hobbies also photograph..^^
I see, I'll try HobbyCo @ QVB next week..
Hahaha, you can find tsumugi nendoroid at many online store. In fact, the K-on nendoroids are not that rare except ritsu..=D
i dont really recommend you to buy figurines from shops in sydney tho.. better off buying from the net... much cheaper and some shops sells fake as well...
but ya... kinokuniya is great place to get some great books~~ i go there often to usually pick up a few light novel or a compace or newtype~~
Yeah, I'm getting used to buy figures from online store at Amiami, YAJ, and other online store since I've moved to Australia..^^
Yup, kinokuniya has a huge range of that..=)
*sigh* i cant believe that they have much better supplies than these oldies shops in Melbourne . . .sucks to be me :(
i have a hard time finding stuff in melbourne.. i've virtually given up (/Д`)
I've suggested by Mim, that the most efficient way to buy this kind of stuff is from the online store..
Meanwhile, I'm sticking with Amiami.. As far as it goes, their price are reasonable.=D
<3 Oooh~ I am dying for this~!
aww x.x i wish there were shops like this near me...all the ones i know about dont sell that much x.x they have small stock though they will sometimes special order things x.x but not often. Your so lucky, Though for figures the stores here are good xD hehe would be nice to get both manga + figures in BIG quantity's
You live in UK right? I've friend in Manchester and said that he usually buy stuff from online store since it's the most effective way to get things.==D
yea xD i live closer to London then Manchester, theres some good stores that keep stocked quite a bit but nowhere near enough xD is deffo easier to buy online(just gotta worry about customs though) i got my first Dollfie Dream just before christmas and customs and handling(NOT P&P) cost about £80
I think I just died and went to Heaven.
My credit card did..>.<
I buy manga and ny IT books from that store also. They have the best range of Japanese content in Sydney and, you can also use their computers to search for something in the system that they don't have in stock, but can be ordered in for you.
Sadly there are very few stores, with a decent stock of merchandise, that I'm aware of in Sydney. Given the strength of our dollar, you'd have access to a much wider range of goods and for a great deal less online. Even with shipping everything would still be a good deal cheaper.
I attend every Anime con in Sydney and rule of thumb, for their larger PVC merchandise, is that they are generally double or triple the price of something bought from one of the stores advertised on Figure.fm's banners. That said, conventions would be the only decently concentrated source I can think of for merchandise in Sydney.
Yup, kinokuniya have a gigantic reange of books.
I myself was surprise when I got there..0_o
I rarely see figure stores in Sydney. And when they do, many of them are bootlegs..
Yup, I took your advice and got some from Amiami..^^
Wow, is the Anime Con in Sydney happens every year..
When will the Anime Con 2012 hold?
I would like to go there..0_o
there is a store called "anime at abbotsford" that sells figures, no bootlegs. You can go to Supanova or SMASH! conventions for other anime merch ..i'd say Animania too but its overrun by bootlegs ^^"..
Though i agree that its better to buy online.
The amount of bootlegs present at the last Sydney Animania was ridiculous.
Some of them are so obvious though! One vendor was selling Snow Miku Nendo for like $30... i mean, come on. Supposedly, i was told they are going to try crack down on this, kind of like what SMASH has started too do.
Of course, if you take all the Bootlegs out of Animania, you are left with artist alley, and maybe a few other vendors.
I hear the more legit dealers boycot Animania for that very reason. Shame really as the rest of the Con was actually really good.
Wow, could you tell me about this animania, supanova and smash! ? 0_o
Are they like an Anime Convention?

I'm pretty sure those are the main ones for Sydney and, some of them also rotate around to different cities through out the year, so if willing to travel, you could end up with quite a large list of cons in a year.
I myself am attending a con in Canberra in two weeks time, but its more for gamers though there are plenty of dealers and some Anime merchandise for sale.

Thank you mim..=D
I'll look forward to go there..^.^
I think I will go the one that near Sydney first..
=D
So sad of how animania is running =.= our artist table increases every year atm >.> not really promoting out to doujinshis... sigh.. ah well.. at least still end up making it back~
i will personally recommend just attend smash and supanova.. coz they are actually (still) nice and not turning too corrupted like animania but ya~ its good way to meet other people anyway~ conventions~
I looked up at supanova, but I don't see many japan culture there..
I don't know what's the real one though..=D
I think I'll attend smash this year..^^
Want!
OMG!!! They have these X0
I'm screaming like a Girl now XD
This is such an awesome place to make your credit card get sore XD
This is the heaven for the hearts, but hell for the credit cards..XP
Wow, thanks for taking a shot of Pandora Hearts ;3
Love that store! but sadly their translated manga section is only small :s but...ive never really looked into great detail at their japanese section...Also do u know if they sell anime artbooks there? I've only seen the handful of artbooks they have displayed in the translated manga section...i was wondering if there is anymore around the store?
Yeah, there are not many translated manga there..>.<
Their Japanese section is ROCKS! You should check it out..=D
You can find many artbooks from the Japanese section.
I spotted quarterly pixiv, pixiv girls collection 2010 and 11, and also many others artbooks..^^
omg I miss kinokuniya so badly T_T.I can barely find a good amount of translated manga here. Especially since I live in a quite small town..must be sucks to be me ^q^!Anyway, kinokuniya is my fav place every time I went to asia^^
I think the best option is to buy online..=D
Always love to spend some times in a book store like this to look around what they have each month :)
Kinokuniya is ok for Jap and chinese mangas. But for english ones they are way over priced. I just order my english mangas from bookdepository. Delivered for 25-50% cheaper than Kinokuniya.
breathtaking... *_*..., my heart skip a beat.
Don't worry, My wallet did too..>.<
Sadly I'm from another state, so no Kinokuniya here^^" If they had one here, I'd visit daily and probably buy something weekly^^"
Thanks for taking the pictures!
Just visit Sydney once in while when you've holidays..=D
You're welcome..^^
