So, yeah, we all know that when we go out to cons and other gatherings of the otaku persuasion we have to expect to carry SOMETHING home: a new daughter, comics, posters, figma, nendoroids, books, CDs and DVDs, etc. etc.

With the current global focus on climate change and the terrible things that happen if people don't take steps to save the environment, how can we lowly otaku do our part?

I can't rightfully call that reusable cloth shopping bag hanging off my shoulder as a trend. But the concept hit the Philippines about a year or so ago and truthfully, I'm so glad that people are making fashion statements out of reusable shopping bags now. Most bags of this type in my country are made out of, well, it's literally sackcloth: sacks of flour emptied of their contents, washed and laundered, and then resewn into sturdy shopping bags.

It's nice to go out shopping and then tell the cashier "No need for a plastic bag, just pop my item into this cloth bag please."

Cloth shopping bags catching on in your neck of the woods? How do you carry your loot or shopping?

    I take the cloth shopping bags to anime cons because I don't like the plastic bags.

    Depending on the loot if it's a small amount then a regular plastic bag, if medium amount then a tote bag or a backpack if a large amount of loot then a shopping cart :3 gotta love them Cons

    I never knew someone here could hold themselves back enough to use a cloth bag for loot.
    I always have a huge backpack with me, head-towel included.

    Whenever I go loot shopping, I usually have my backpack for the little stuff, then I have largish cloth bag. Much like when I do groceries, I bring 2 or 3 cloth bags. Then anything that doesn't fit I ask for a plastic bag.

    I always buy crap online, so I never have to worry about it. Never been to a con, and honestly, I probably never will. I don't have to deal with some of the retarded people you see there. As for the exclusive figures, I haven't really seen any that are really worth what they cost.

      same here but I've been to about 2 cons before, only bought like a couple of model kits (which were more expensive than buying online even w/ the haggling). I have a general dislike of all the weaboos running around cons as well.

    Canvas messenger bag. And not one of those super small ones that are just fashion accessories, you could pile three laptops in mine with room to spare. A well-built canvas messenger will last quite a while through lots of wear and tear too.

    For cons, I've been using my eco-bags. The ones from Sanrio are surprisingly durable and can hold a lot of more than expected. I try not to take a huge bag (that I carry all my essentials and what not in, I mean) because it can get heavy and I have usually have a friend that can stash my bag of loot at their table (AA vendors or AA staff). Rather have that than a mountain of plastic bags or leaving my actual bag with my wallet and etc., haha.

    When I buy stuff at cons, I just use the plastic bags they put my stuff in. When I have more than I feel like carrying around with me, I take it back to my room at the hotel. When the con's over, I haul all my stuff to the car.

    I use a combination of a messenger bag and the not so eco-friendly reuseable "Eco" bags (seriously, the amount of embodied energy in those things, you may as well have just used a bunch of regular plastic bags... especially with the advances in bio-degrading plastics). My messenger bag does fall under the "fashion accessory" tag, so it usually carries my wallet, phone, keys, sketchbook and pens... maybe an art-book or two that I've bought, but other than that I'll be needing bags ^^;

    lol, I always have 12 bags to carry my stuff. And when I go to a Con, I just pull a pack mule. >_> that might explain why my back leans forward and missing my hips. (Doctors removed those for some reason.) I find it amusing when the shop keepers try put the merchandise I purchased in my bags.
