Welcome to the Figure Wash

Posted by Otaku Dan [www]

Dusting figures is the regular upkeep that most figure collectors do but I like to take it a step further. Every 6 months I was my figures. Figures that have any parts made out of rubber get the worst end of the stick. When you touch it, it feels gritty and it loses its color.

You can use any soap but I recommend using liquid dish washing soap. Make sure NOT to use hot or warm water. Cold and room temperature is the best. Use the sponge to lightly scrub the entire figure. If you have a figure that can be disassembled, then the job is easier.

Let your figure air dry. It takes about 8 to 15 minutes depending on the size of the figure.

Should try washing some of my figmas, some of the older ones like the SOS Dan girls are bit smudged.

i used to wash the figmas first, but it takes a lot of time to dry in the humid climate here. also it tends to leave spots where the water has dried. so i just use a damp microfiber cloth to wipe the girls down. faster and they get cleaned too.

    I use Laundry Detergent instead.

I used it on my figs with hard cling dust and it was easier to srub off.

So far.. no paint probs & such

When my friend and I wash her figures, we gently pat them dry with a soft towel/washcloth and then use canned air to get water out of all the little areas.

I washed one of my figmas recently. Didn't pull it all apart though, just gently used a Windex wipe over most parts, particularly any white or light-coloured bits.

I like the colors in the photos, they look veyr vibrant and makes me want to wash my figures up too... eventually I should, I do notice a bit of a fade of color in some of them!
