Subaru pitches in Meisa Kuroki for the BRZ's TV commercial

Well, I can't believe it. In case you haven't know, Subaru pitches in Japanese actress, Meisa Kuroki, as the endorser for the new BRZ sports coupe. You may probably remember Meisa Kuroki from last year's Andalusia movie and from the Japanese Nestle Kit Kat commercial but you wouldn't believe she really fits her personality with this car.
The Subaru BRZ was released last week and it is scheduled to go on sale across Japan at the end of March 2012. This is the first rear-wheel drive sports coupe in joint agreement with Toyota Motor Corporation. This is the TOYOTA 86 with the Pleiades' point of view. The BRZ naming implies as "Boxer Rear-Wheel-Drive Zenith".

The Toyota and Scion are the same car. Well same in being Toyota that is, but the American model. I'm intending on getting a white 86 when it gomes out here later in the year.
Just need the after market scene in Japan to start creating all the bolt on mods I'm thinking of :)_
The front splitter/spoiler on the Toyota looks nicer than the Subaru IMO, but I like the rest of the Subaru more... Wish it didn't have that badge accent thingy though... makes it look like it's got a more pronounced nose...
Toyota's TRD division made a show special with updates to everything but the driveline recently. They do rather love supercharging rather than turboing which could be interesting down the line ie - http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2011/12/toyota-gt-86-trd-revealed.html
The base models of both are just too underpowered though. What's the point when someone in a Golf GTI rips your face off at the traffic light olympics every time. That said I'm interested in seeing how far you could push the NA engine.
I'm sure a cold air intake, performance air filter, zorst and ECU tune would liberate at least 30-40kw. Then add some nice white Ray's 17" forged rims and sticky rubber to keep it glued when giving it stick. The ride on 18" rims would be rubbish, especialy on the shocking roads we have in Australia.
I'm really looking forward to some itasha's being done using 86's. Should be a wonderfull base to use for the hobby.
I don't think this is too underpowered compaired to a golf in terms of sheer output, at least on paper, but I've heard that the engine lacks a good bit of torque... Super charging could be a decent option though, as it can retain decent engine response, but I personally like turbo charging more from a weight/power ratio. As far as winning at the stop light drag races, I don't personally think it's a huge deal, as I prefer cornering myself anyway. Doesn't really matter if you've got twice my horsepower if I leave you in the dust around every corner~
Turbo's are more efficient, but need some time to spin up where SC's provide more instantanious responce. All my past cars were GM V8's so I kinda got addicted to insane amounts of torque.
I totally understand power isn't everything and the 86's selling point is more the complete handeling package, but as good as that engine is its still screaming for more torque.
It's actually gonna prove quite fascinating watching the two brands go their seperate directions using their own prefured power up methodoligies ie Turbo's for Sube and SC's for Toyota.
What I've heard about the STI version is that they're not gonna go with a Turbo at all, and they're just doing some tuning/internals to up the RPMs/weight reduction/handling package. Based on that, I'd probably have more interest in what the aftermarket does with it. Honestly though, I think an STI, tickled to 260bhp wth focus on letting it rev/breath freely would make a pretty fun ride. Oh, and actualy sports tires... The stock rubber is the same thing you'd get from a Prius, so NO... Gotta replace those too...
cant wait for production spec STI model for the BRZ, and to see more of the GT300 ver.
Hear the STI model is gonna be higher reving/lighter. No plans for force induction at all... Which they would consider it though... That GT300 model is quick nice...
Yeah the lack of a forced induction model from both toyota/subaru is disheartening, but hopefully a nice aftermarket turbo kit is developed for the new boxer.
The TRD model is gonna have a supercharger from what I hear...
