Mim's New Phone
I recently updated my phone to the new iPhone 4GS and, seeing how much I love photography using just phones, I thought I'd take a couple of pics and try out some of the standard features.
Going from a 5mpx to an 8mpx camera is hardly a game changer, but I think the incremental upgrade was a nice feature and (at least for me) was one of the most anticipated improvements over the 4G.
Most shots were left as regular ie no flash or HDR unless noted.

Some regular pics, but in the garden.

Using a free app on the iPhone called PhotoToaster JR. It was a single tap auto adjustment option once the pic was selected from my phones library.

Almost looks like one of those motivational posters?

nothing but rares D:
I figured people might enjoy seeing close ups some of the really old Nendo's and some of their accessories. Nendo's somehow alway's end up being quite photogenic >.<
I like the regular shots better =x maybe get a reflector and brighten up the shadows and not have to use HDR :D
HDR on the iPhone is still a fat waste of time imo. The processor in the phone is still not fast enough to eliminate motion in anything other than macro shots and even then you still get pretty mixed results leading to the need to take a larger sample of photos to get remotely close to the desired result.
Standard photo's are really nice though, assuming you are still tapping the focal point between every photo and take two or three each time, to single out the best shot for when reviewing them later. The processing in standard photo mode feels a little faster and a little less hit and miss than it used to be with the 4G.
I'd love to see how other phone cameras go. We have a few people at work with Android phones, but they never really seem to take any decent shots. I'd put that down to the user not knowing how to work around the limitations of their devices though.
As for a portable reflector, thats actually a pretty damn good idea.
The quality of phone photos always surprises me. I like the unprocessed ones more, but it's interesting to see what you can get out of apps.
I recall reading a news article, fairly recently, where it was mentioned that the traditional camera making companies like Cannon, Sony, Nikkon etc where focusing less and less on the entry level cameras and leaving that zone to the emerging phone based cameras instead, which kinda makes sense.
Camera phones have really come a long way, but their compact form factor, resulting in the need for tiny image sensors, will hold them back for some time yet. I think phone handset makers have cottoned onto that and have gone down the optimization route with cranking more processing power for faster and hence less blury photo's and working on more natural colour balances. Sadly I only see this sort of progress putting more and more pressure on the traditional camera makers. Look at poor Kodak for instance.
Wow you have a lot of rare nendoroids! You don't get to see too many pictures of rares like these so thanks for sharing. These pictures are really good, your phone takes better pictures than my camera does ^^.
Thanks! I have every Nendo so I might start posting more regular photo shoots of them together including collections with all the releases relating to TV shows like Death Note or Haruhi.
