1/6 Asuka Langley Shikinami Plug Suit Ver. Kotobukiya

Posted by Wolfheinrich [www]

October has so far proven to be one of most important months this year in terms of figure releases this year, we had Saber Lily from GSC which has lived up to the expectation we have come to expect. Since there are already so many Saber Lily photo shoot and reviews, I don’t feel I can offer anymore than what is already out there. However, another package I have been expecting arrived today, I was going to wait until Dollfie Airi arrive before doing another photo shoot; but once I opened the box, that idea of waiting for Dollfie Airi went right out the window! Ever since the Rebuild of Evangelion movie hitting the theater this past summer, Evangelion 2.0: You can (not) advance, we have been getting a nice revival on the Evangelion merchandises, what we have is 1/6 Asuka Langley Shikinami Plug Suit Ver. from the good folks of Kotobukiya! And this is most probably the cream of the crop of all the new merchandises, I kid you not. My jaw dropped as soon as I opened the box from HLJ…. Oh my god, she is a beauty! The box, the presentation, everything is top notch! This is most definitely a few steps above the normal Kotobukiya releases! One of the few Kotobukiya figures that actually look better in person than the promotional pictures!

Isn’t she beautiful? As a self proclaimed Asuka fan, this is most definitely a welcome addition to my collection of Asuka figures! She is most probably the best looking Asuka in her plug suit PVC figure we have to-date! Personally, I never felt we ever had a good Asuka plug suit PVC figure that I consider top notch but this is it! Pretty soon I should do a photo shoot of my Asuka Collection~

Is this 1/6 Asuka Langley Shikinami a must get figure for you?

When I am presented with an image like this, how could I possibly resist the temptation to open her up right the way? Though, admittedly, she looks good enough to stay IN the box just the way she is~ I think this is one of the few instances that I feel this way on a Kotobukiya figure.

I like the cut out in the packaging so you can take a real good look on her face while she is still in the box!

Taking a shot from the back side before setting Asuka on the base. Sorry, no panchira shot here, so we have to make do with this. There is no attachment point between Asuka and the base so she just kind of sit there…

I must also add that I am really attracted to her hair, and based on the description from HLJ, her hair is actually molded in translucent plastic, which is then given a light application of paint, which gives it a glowing, realistic appearance. This new technique they are using for her hair is definitely working for me, the way the light reflected off her hair is just a thing of beauty!

Good luck in securing her! I was going to wait and see if I could "by luck" be chosen as the 5 lucky winners from the Otacool contest but I began to notice a few places already put up a preorder stop sign back in August, so I decided I have to get her first.

Is she difficult to get a hold of? I have the Ayane version, and that one is super sexy!

Not a Rei fan and don't have the Rei version so I can't speak to that, so far Asuka is still available in popular sites I think.

Been an Asuka fan for as long as Evangelion has been around! As much as I have always like Asuka, the figurine industry back in the early 90s were just not good enough to produce a top tier figure. The movie remake has stirred a new wave of Eva merchandises and I am so glad that we Asuka fans can finally bring home an Asuka figure that we can be proud of! Good job Kotobukiya, you have exceeded my expectation!

Same here, was never a rei fan ahhaha. Yeh, I agree. Most figures have the body shape right but the face just doesn't work. Yeh it has, I was so excited to hear of a remake of the series! Yup!

Wow! I love her! Kotobukiya really got her right. Especially the very sexy curves outlined by her plug suit. Her face and hair are beautiful too. Probably the biggest complaints I have with Asuka figures is her face. Not here.

I'm thinking of buying one when I get back. The only other Asuka "figure" I have is really an expensive doll (Medicom/have Rei too).

Most probably the best scaled Asuka PVC figure to-date, I don't think there was ever an Asuka scaled figure that has given me the "Wow" factor, but this one did.

The RAH version looks like a fine figure as well, but I already have DD Asuka so there is little point of getting RAH version.

I gotta say they did her face well... just like Rei's (which I have). I probably won't get this one since I have no room in my spot for Asuka XD Nice to look at though ^_^ Still prefer Rei more, lol.

Excuses excuses, running out of room has never stopped me from buying new figures! I just need to manufacture more display area. You have your manga towers, I have my Billy towers.

WOW great pictures! She is a must get for me. I'm still waiting to see if I can find her for a good price though. Kotobukiya figures usually go on sale at one point or another. I remember getting the Rei one for a good price. I'm really happy with the way she turned out! Kotobukiya seems to make really great 1/6th figures. ^-^

Well, I am not so sure she will necessarily go on sale since this is an exceptional release from Kotobukiya. Yeah they sure did a very good job of it, two thumbs up.
