The di:stage iPhone stand

Posted by Yuuichi-kun [www]

I was bored today and was having issues watching something on my iPhone because it was on my desk and not at eye level, so I decided to make this makeshift iPhone stand. All you need is 3 di:stages and a little bit of patience when making adjustments to the arms.

Mouseover = load notes.

This can be done with 2 di:stages if you don't have 3, but using 3 will allow you to place one of your figmas underneath!

Stand without iPhone

Here is the stand from the side without the iPhone on it. Note the angles. The angles can be adjusted and you can position the arms wherever you want, however I recommend the second hole in for stability. You could use a third arm in case 2 isn't stable enough for some reason, like if you have a heavy case or something.

Instead of the claws used with the arms for the figmas, you can use the speech balloon attachments to make sure that the iPhone is stable once you get it positioned correctly. Hopefully the arms you got were not loose, as that would obviously be a problem. Mine were pretty tight, so I'm assuming that this is a feature of the di:stage arms.

I hope some of you found this as helpful as I have. Thanks for reading!

    I would add another two tri-arms at each side for further reinforcement... It looks fragile as it is... 0_0

      It's actually pretty sturdy regardless of how fragile it looks. I've had my iPhone on mine for the past few hours and the worst thing that's happened is the arms dip below being perfectly straight sometimes ^^;

    Won't the weight make the joints loose eventually?

      Believe it or not, but the arms support the weight of the phone without the weight affecting the positioning of the arms by much. I've been checking mine every 15 minutes or so to see if the arms have dipped down, but it seems to be maintaining the positioning pretty well! I'm sure extreme use would probably cause some dipping and eventually loosening, so I wouldn't recommend this being permanent. Besides, if it's an iPhone, you'll be carrying it around when you're not at home, right? ;)

        Aye true... but if one's a NEET then one would stay at home more often, lol. Or even if I can get out then a lot of time I stay home anyway XD
