Instant Figure Furniture

...well, sort of instant.

Fate, inspecting the output of one of the university's rapid prototyping machines. Possibly not the cheapest way to go about getting figure-props, but definately one of the easiest. Fortunately these are for an assignment so QUT's picking up the tab. Obviously there's a bit of paintint and finishing to be done, but the SLS machine does a pretty neat job.

I'll miss having access to this stuff come next year...

Also noticing the LX3 starts to noise-up quite noticeably over about 200ISO, annoying. You can't really see it at this resolution, but blow it up a little more and the noise is quite obvious, especially across Fate's hair.

    I know what you mean about the noise...I took some pictures recently during one of my Judo classes...I had to up the ISO way up there so I could use faster shutter speed to catch some of my classmates during their throws...Nice Rapid Prototype. For one of my previous classes at my University, I got to mess with one of these machines too.

      The machines are great fun... just wish the storeman didn't complain so much about all the powder being consumed by the process ^^;

      Yeah, I generally try to keep the LX3's ISO as far down as possible... I actually found that a little dissapointing to be honest. I mean, the lense and most things about the camera are great but the noise plus the lack of any real telescopic capability can make things difficult at times as you can't really crop right down.

      Ah well, considering the camera's usual usage though it's not a big problem.
