150th Year of Yokohama
Today I will bring you to see Yokohama. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the opening of the Port of Yokohama. To celebrate it, the city sponsored the "Set Sail !" event from April to September.

Lots of event were held around Yokohama focusing on the history and attractions of the city. It took around 20 minutes to visit from one place to another place. It was raining that day so I couldn't visit all the places.

My ticket. With this ticket, you could enter lot of places for free. Some of the them charged you 50%. The ticket price was 2400 Yen. Luckily, I know someone who knows lot of secret places to get cheap tickets. I bought this ticket only for 1000 Yen. ^^

The first place that I visited was the Nippon Maru, the Swan on the Pacific Ocean. The ship was used as a training ship for novice sailors. Inside the ship is the ship museum.

Spotted a couple of lovey dovey birds.

Next destination was NISSAN Y150 Dream Front & Super Hi-Vision Theater (Shinko Pier). Inside there was the Super Hi-Vision Theater where you could watch a short movie about the world. Although the movie wasn't really interesting, the visual was amazing.

They also introduced their latest project for future car called PIVO 2. We just need to input our destination into the GPS, and the car will automatically drive into the destination. The car will also be equipped with sensor to reduce the speed or stop if it gets too close to a car or person. Imagine that you can now easily read health material while in the car.

The car will use electricity as fuel. There will be several places where you could recharge your car battery around the town. They will also install the device in the road so you could check how many hours left in your car battery.

Yokohama is not complete without its mascot, Tanemaru.

Hajimari no mori (Forest of beginning) was my main destination.

The famous Yokohama spider. Awesome machine. Unfortunately, they didn't have the show when I was there so I couldn't see it moving.

It looked a bit ugly though. No moe factor was detected.

The staff was patrolling to guard the spider from being hijacked.

You could get up close and personal with the spidy if you want.

Close to the spider was the Yokohama Monogatari (Yokohama's tale).

You could see the history of Yokohoma when the port first opened to the world.

Couldn't remember the name of the mascot beside Tanemaru.

I was a bit tired after a long walk so I decided to rest for a while...

while eating some yummy mango cookies that my friend brought from Singapore.

Found an abandoned Vista & FMV balloon. Never like Vista but will try Windows 7.

Hmm… Where should I go next?

Finally decided to visit the famous Akarenga (Red Brick). The Red Brick Warehouse is a famous tourist spot in Yokohama. Designed by Yorinaka Tsumaki, the architecture of the building was indeed beautiful.

Some people couldn't resist posing in front of it.

Overall, the event was not that interesting but The Yokohama itself was a good place to visit. Make sure you visit Yokohama if you have time to spare. =)

LOL @ Singapore Mango Cookies!!
Spider looks scary!! =/
My main lens is 50mm f1.4
is tanemaru a mango?
the spidey looks ugly. like its made up of bones for legs.
Tanemaru is the fairy of the Tamakusu tree. Tamakusu tree was planted when Commodore Perry came to Japan. That means the tree already reached 150 years old.
Beautiful Pictures you got there .
Wondering if The Yokohama spider versus the Odaiba Gundam in action . I like that Picture with the old man wearing a hat and have an umbrella . Its just so professional of you to take that shot ^^
I think the Yokohama spider has tons of moe. :[
Interesting to hear about the Nissan PIVO2... really is useful when you're sleepy after a long day. Just make sure your windows are tinted before you engage in health care inside the car ^^;
I'm digging your vans.
