MG RX-0 Unit 02 Unicorn "Banshee"
Time to get back into the swing of things!! I've been a lurker for while now after being unable to work on my models but I've managed to complete my latest work which I will enter into the Gunpla competition (just in time too!).
Here's my attempt at the Gundam Unicorn Banshee

For those who don't know, the Banshee is the second Unicorn unit from the novel and was "aquired" by the Neo-Zeon.
It's base stats are stronger than those of the unicorn but it lacks several "black box" devices which were installed in the unicorn

The majority of the work was a simple colourscheme change but I did mod the V-Fin a little to make it more in line with the Banshee design.
Parts from a gashapon 00 gundam head and cosmic era Freedom gundam were used.

And I also managed to keep the transformation gimmick working as well!

The idea came to me during the previous Gundam Giveaway when people posted a fair few standard unicorns. Wanting something a little different, I was considering a simple colourscheme change but then I stumbled on the Banshee design online and decided that I wanted a crack at it!
However, I decided to make banshee a dark blue colour instead of black as I didn't think the jet black look was quite "right"
It's hard to explain...

Paint on the torso looks messy.. What happened to it?
You've painted it matte black why not do the same treatment for the exposed inner frame, I'm talking 'bout the neck, hip and majority of the joints..
That's actually how it is in the design. Dunno why tho.
As for the torso, it's really wierd. The spotlights I used for the detail pics seem to make these tiny dots of white appear in the pics but they don't show up at all in regular room light. But room lighting isn't good for these kind of pics. Still have a few days to try and figure out why but I don't know how much time I will have to do it so I thought it be best to post what I have for now.
I'm not talking about the design, I'm saying why not apply matte topcoat on it..
Have you tried cleaning up the torso? And here's a little tip, imperfections usually appear when doing macro shots.. You can't really see it with the naked eye ;D
hmm, IIRC, I have my camera set to macro mode automatically. I'll see if I can redo the pics in time and see if it makes a difference.
Also, it has been topcoated.
Whats all the stuff on the torso ? Looks a little rough. You might want to clean that up a bit. Also the V-fin looks a lot more delicate than it originally was. Are you going to paint the back pack ?
he looks a lot cooler with the dark color scheme ^^
um....IMO the horn still needs some touch up
That was dark blue? I thought it was black. ^^;
Nice! I was afraid paints might scratched off during transformation but it seems you get it work alright.
hmmm, IMO, i think a bit more practice with painting overall would be good before going into any contests. you probably used a paintbrush to do the gold and perhaps only 1 layer? if you're going to use brush, apply at least 2 layers as it's a bit too thin and you can see underneath it. spray paint would work pretty well too. so give it a try!
