Gall-Day Theme: A Devilsh Delight

This night I present a holiday themed gallery in commemoration of All Hallow's Eve or Halloween as today is most commonly known.

Just a little background information (>^^)>

All Hallow's Eve, Halloween, or All Saint's Eve as it is known for some ecclesiastical affiliations finds beginning roots in the Celtic Samhain festival which is held from October 31st to November 1st. This festival is said to solemnize the end of the harvest and 'lighter half' of the Gaulish calender while ushering in the 'darker half' which lasts until the month of April. Some elements of the festival of the dead such as honoring those who have passed and the belief that the day itself is one of heightened spiritual power and activity is associated with Samhain which carries over to Halloween.

Halloween is shortening of All Hallow's Even, derived from the Old English Eallra Hālgena ǣfen, where the later word Even pertains to evening which is when the festivities begin.

Activities typically associated with Halloween are the dawning of costumes with ghoulish, ghastly, or monstrous features and succumbing to the enchantment of an ethereal evening. Similar to Valentine's Day, Halloween is also subject to heavy commercialization particularly from candy makers. Candy sales are said to be the highest in and around Halloween, with nearly $2 billion being generated in revenue within the United States alone. While Halloween is not celebrated all over the world, million upon millions of people enjoy themselves on a night where they have a chance to be someone (or something) else.
