It finally came!

Posted by wannbe17

Finally my Plutone Gundam GK arrives! Unfortunately became lazy to assemble it due to being the last day of my off, I am having 2nd thoughts about this thing. Maybe I might make a mistake and ended up with a bang if I dont get any advices and tips from the pros. However I find this one quite durable even when I'm taking a single part off. Now my question surfaces. Is there a simple way of building resin/garage kits like when you build a regular gunpla?

Mouseover = load notes.

It finally came!

Edit: Here are the parts casted in different colors. It comes with an instruction manual.

nope, It's just a posable resin kit. Think of it as FGs and yes, rare GK but not a special edition.
      Go to www.tatsuhobby.com
They still have em! So quick!

Resin.. is actually a pretty easy material to work with. I'm a figure builder.. not too big on mecha. But, as far as Resin is concern it cuts well.. Things you'll need to assemble it.. is, Either Super Glue or Epoxy glue. (Epoxy will hold it together longer.. since CA tends to turn brittle after a time. And you'll wanna watch out for pits and holes. Best resource I can offer is the tutorials at gkjapan.com its figure related, but!! The techniques are good for any kit.

Uhm...this thing is posable so that means no holes and no need for glue or put holes like you said. But I'll take that advice as a fail safe. Thanks for the tip.

Ahh its a poseable resin kit.. just like the old Escaflowne kit. Alright.. What I meant by holes though.. was, Pinholes.. Which when casting resin tends to happen.. especially if it wasn't vacuum molded. THey are a real bite in the behind. If the casting looks clean. it prolly is. but, give it a priming first.. and all the little bugs will jump out at you. since resin molds break down faster then the steel molds that are used to make styrene kits.

Primer? Is that what you meant? Is it necessary or optional? And how do you prevent resin kits from breaking down faster?

The Resin won't ever break down.. the molds do.. since they are rubber molds. The primer will give your paint a place to stick.. if you want a good paint job. I highly suggest you paint the kit. Basically your first primer coat will have all the flaws in the casting if there are any.. jump out at you.. you fix em.. then prime it again.. if it looks good.. Right on. Bear in mind this is after some assembly. Since its poseable, the polycaps should do the trick just fine and dandy.. since anything else would be a pain I would think. Like I said I'm not a gundam builder.. but I've built more then a few resin kits. Also due to the weight of resin.. the individual sub assemblies.. lets say armour peices that join together.. may need pinned together. so they stay together. Resin is much heavier then the plastic used in typical gundam kits. Is why I suggest you get some tutorial experience..

if you are worried about support may i suggest using *Magnets*
when you test fit- you may find pieces/joints that are really loose
oh and if you have the tools to build gunpla- you have the tools for resin lol

i can point you to some good tutorials if you want

    Here's a tip..

Don't ever be afraid of breaking this or any gunpla.. With some super glue/plastic cement, sandpaper it can easily be fixed.

Thanks for the link to Tatsu Hobby, they seem really interesting and they have the cheapest Hi-Nu I've ever seen. Anyhow, how long did it take for you to receive your order?
