Day of the Dead/Dia de los Muertos
Well yesterday here in San Diego which was November 2nd. We celebrated "Dia de los muertos" or "Day of the Dead" in english. here's a description by wikipedia:
"The Day of the Dead (El Día de los Muertos or All Souls' Day) is a holiday celebrated in Mexico and by Latin Americans living in the United States and Canada. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. The celebration occurs on November 1st, and November 2nd in connection with the Catholic holiday of All Saints' Day which occurs on November 1st and All Souls' Day which occurs on November 2nd. Traditions include building private altars honoring the deceased, using sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these as gifts."

This was the altar of my grandparents which I helped make. Its kind of sad that i never got to meet them. They lived all the way in Cuba. Also the small picture is of my uncle who was one of the nicest, most easygoing people ive known.

Again altar for my grandparents.

So do any of you guys do anything like this?

Muy interesante.....
Nope, I have never seen someone celebrating this day in real life.
Well , Here in Malaysia we don't celebrate Halloween and All Saints Day but I have Filipino friends that celebrate The Day of The Dead too ^_^ which is called All Souls Day .
I think its great to know Other Countries Traditions and Customs . Just makes me feel closer to Za Warudo .
We Filipinos also commemorate November 1 for the dead. 'tis the day we go to the cemetery and spend some time (some people spend a whole day!) with our dearly departed ones. A very nice tradition that I hope will continue in the future.
