80's Style Akiyama Mio
Here's my latest picture where I've taken a modern character and drawn them in an 80's style. But first, some backstory:
Yui was in trouble again, and needed help studying. After a lot of persuading, Mio came over to review with her. She was a bit annoyed when she found that Yui hadn't been studying but instead was fiddling with an old VHS tape she had found in an old storage box.
It's hard to say which of the two were more surprised when Yui opened that tape and, well, this happened...

Anyways, I decided to draw Mio up in an 80's style, but wanted to try something a bit different than my previous 80's conversion pictures.
As for style, I picked an 80's style that I like- after all, if I am drawing something, I want it to be something I like. Why not Ritsu opening the tape? That's because I thought Yui would be funnier, and it's harder for Mio to get really angry at Yui for doing it, because she isn't trying to tease Mio or anything like that.
I drew this in OpenCanvas, and used my Figma to help with the posing.

LoL I thought you might start doing K-ON next ^_^ Mio would look quite different back in the 80's, eh? Mysterious VHS... nice concept!
Thanks! And yeah, K-On is radically different from how things used to look, so it was both fun and a challenge to translate that look.

I'm starting to think that whatever was in that... thing Yui's holding caused the change o.O
Admittedly it's a bit hard to tell, but it's a VHS tape that she's holding- which is why she didn't change (she's the one holding it).
I'm guessing cursed VHS tapes are bountiful.
The snail on her hoodie is almost a bit much ~_-;
The only thing is that the snail really is part of the design on her hoodie- I checked a bunch of screencaps to get the look right.
I love how no matter what, Yui still looks like Yui xD
I think the magic only affects other people- must be Yui's superpower!

Love your 80's-inspired Anime. I kind of get the feeling you had some inspiration from Video Girl Ai even though technically it wasn't from the 80's, it had 80's-style designs.
