feedback for e2046 recast items and resin finishing

are they any good?
i'm interested to buy their recasted GSC saber lily, but i'm afraid if they have issue with their recast
i'm fine with holes & all, but chipping because of the resin being to thin is serious issue
i already buy the original 1, and very happy with it
but its my obsession of red, i just want to see this beauty in red, or dominated by it
and not to mention of failing my mod, and losing 100$ & saber with it, the recast is only 42$, and i'm going to look for bootleg saber lily to made into saber violent rose anyway

anybody here ever bought their recasted resin? how was it?

btw, any suggestion what should i get for resin kit finishing?
i have my taiwan, anzen airbrush, and just going cheap with some chinese AB compressor
anybody can convince me why should i get a genuine quality controlled compressor in japan for 4 times the price? (since they are made in china anyway)
and i don't think i'm going to need much precision for airbrush now, is it really hard to do skin toning with wide area AB burst? (i still can spray a mist coat)
i've heard from somebody that you can actually write something in paper with an airbush just as like writing with a pencil or that width, of course, an iwata item...

E2046 recasts are... Workable. For your idea, they are probably your best bet but, depending on the locations of the flash, you may still get a chipping problem on the edges.

As for compressors, more expensive brands tend to have a few extras. They often have higher max pressure outputs and they also allow for variable pressure outputs so you have greater control over your spray. They also seem to last longer, according to some people.

It's not essential to upgrade as you can compensate a little with a good airbrush. My compressor is pretty naff but my iwata dual action airbrush let's me get away with some things. And yes, you can actually write with an airbrush with high Pressure output.

As for recasts in general...go for it since you're modding the kit, workable and you'll sometimes spend hours fixing some bubbles and minor defects but still workable. As for supporting the sculptor...I won't be a hypocrite, I'd buy recasts of resin kits I really like, coz usually they're all sold out or really overpriced.

I agree with GJK, as long as the airbrush is of good quality you can get away with things, I've used 2 mini compressors, I got a Kawasaki mini-compressor and bought a pressure control gauge and attached a water trap that powered my Badger Crecendo 175 and it worked just fine.

As I moved to Canada I purchased a Testors Mini Blue compressor and an Iwata dual action air-brush, haven't gone and bought a pressure control and water trap yet as 40psi will suffice for most of my painting...until i need a lower psi output.

You do know the artist receives no credit, right?

so, you would rather destroy an original to modify it to your whim?

Indeed, I would rather support the creator than pay against him, even if it is for customization.

unless you go to the events yourself personally (and if you do, you are lucky), how do you get your figure kits then? How can you tell that the kits you got are real or not -since all are just recasts.

Yes, but it at least gives due credit to where it is deserved. And it is not that difficult to tell on auction sites if the kits is real or recast if you actually know about garage kits.

doubt it. A person once said:

"RIGHT now there is NO way to prevent a kit from being copied(to my knowledge).

I have been to many Japanese kit Events/Shows, many buyers will camp out up to 2 days prior to an event and have a game-plan on which dealers to hit early.
Same way that there will be guys using WIFI and Laptops to post to Internet auctions outside the event as soon as they scored a few kits.
And I am talking less than an hour(or even less) after the event opened.

Sad but this is the truth, many of those early auctions/purchases end up on Yahoo/Japan and anybody can buy a kit from there.

So there is NO gurantee that I will get an original from anybody but the original kit producer/sculptor/caster. Again sad to say but the internet has many two-faced people on it. And I don't trust some of the people on here that said they will only offer original kits as they sold recasts to friends of mine and are known recasters.

All it takes is for ONE Original kit to fall into the wrong hands and it WILL be recasted. This is the sad truth."

I can't say about their recast unpainted kits, but their pre-painted stuff is all amazing.

I've got reviews of them on my blog if you're interested:

from my group, e2046 seems to be the place with excellent re-casts
cant say from personal experience though
anyways AB wise- mostly any* compressor works (fish tank compressors?!?) and you DONT need that much pressure for resin
you might want to look into "oil-less" ones b/c less to no maintenance needed
    - get the AB first then see if you really need a new compressor!- GL dood

Well, e2046 or Hobbyfan.. as far as Recasters go.. are prolly some of the best. The casts are generally very good, and really don't have many problems.. most of the time. Remember, due to the fact that resin is poured into a flexible mold.. that mold will break down, and even japanese companies have put out.. crappily casted kits. though the original the mold was made from was great.. but pull too many from that mold.. it'll be crap. I should know, I own more then a few of these kits ^_^ Originals.. but, still really rough casting.

So, if you wanna do some heavy mods.. sure I'd suggest, doing it to a recast.. but if its just a repaint.. pay the extra and just buy two of them.. and repaint one.. you'll feel better about it.

guess i mod the avalon sheath to attach directly to saber armor
ever see devil may cry vergil design? his Devil trigger mode
the human mode must carry katana sheath with left hand, while devil mode is directly bonded to the left arm

E2046 dose do some very good recasts. But if you have no pior experience it'll be kinda hard to just try to put it together right from the getgo. good luck! ^_^
