1/4 Fate T. Harlaown Swimsuit version Good Smile Company

Posted by Wolfheinrich [www]

Seems like I have been making Dollfie Dream related posts a lot recently, so let’s break it up with something else~ What we have here is the 1/4 Fate T. Harlaown Swimsuit version that just arrived at the door today, I have been longing for this figure to pair her up with the previously released 1/4 Nanoha. I wasted little time to take her out of the box and set her up for a photo shoot.

As usual, more pics and full size pics can be found in my blog

For the most part, the sculpture is done nicely …. but there are two major quality problems, which I will cover in a little bit. Let’s see if you can spot them out without me pointing that out first~

Close up shot of her top, still a very charming figure despite the flaws… There hasn’t been enough good StrikerS Fate figure, I am slightly disappointed with the defect, hopefully it’s a rare occurrence

Fate is just gorgeous, isn’t she~

After taking a few shots with Fate, Nanoha wanted to join in for the fun~

And the inevitable shot when I pair this two figures together…..

Let’s say it – Symmetrical Docking!

‘Cho-Ryu-Jin' style, it's the pose I have always wanted to do every since GSC announced this pair of figures~ mission accomplished!

Who has bigger oppai?

Since neither of this figures could stand on their own and the shear size and weight made it fairly difficult to do a proper docking shot… but my persistent prevailed. I ended up taking them off the support pigs to bring them closer for a proper symmetrical docking shot~

Personally I think Fate’s oppai is bigger ~

Remember I said earlier that there are two major flaws? Here they are~

First one is a little bump on Fate’s torso, it’s not in the line of sight if I have Fate facing forward.

Not the most pleasant thing to see in a figure, the only saving grace is that it is not visible from the front view.

The other flaw, which is slightly easier to spot.

A little finger print on the hair…

So if you are looking to buy this figure, be sure to keep these possible flaws in mind.

Personally I think their "oppai" looks the same size just their poses are different, lol like since Nanoha has her arms crossed her "oppai" is squished together and Fate has her arms up they whould be more pronounce. Nice figure though! ^_^

Thanks for the heads up. I have Fate on order so I'll be sure to check her for these flaws when she arrives. Of course neither makes me want this figure any less. She's spectacular ^^.

Agree on that, despite the quality problem, she is still the most impressive StrikerS Fate we have to-date. And if possible, would you mind to give me an update on the two quality problem I indicated? Much appreciated.

Those look like casting defects rather than flaws in the sculpt itself. Actually, in her hair that may actually be a paint problem. . . Sometimes if the paint's starting to dry too soon it'll clump up like that. (I've found this out the hard way painting some of my own projects. The worst cases are when it started to dry when it was still in the bottle--I basically found giant boogers in my paint. Lovely.) While it's definitely plausible, maybe even expected, for a few less-than-perfect figures to slip through the cracks, you'd think they'd be watching their machines like hawks to catch stuff like this and prevent a copy with two factory defects from being sent out.

Yes, it's most probably a casting defect, the hair is a painting problem, someone accidentally grabbed it before the paint was fully dry. Although I find it hard to explain how a bump of extra PVC showing up on Fate's body, cause for a bump to show up, there need to be a pocket on the tooling itself... nevertheless, I am waiting for new owner pictures to help me determine if that is a widespread problem or isolated quality problem.

I'm wondering if the bump is an air bubble--if she was pulled out of the mold when the plastic was mostly but not completely set, and it was close to the surface, then it would probably expand and bump up upon removal.

Hah, I think too much about things like this. XD *crazy hypothesis addict*

It's kind of a unlikely scenario you are describing, but when you say air bubble it caught my attention. It is possible that there is imperfection in the casting itself like air bubble and formed a void on the surface, they tried to fix it by putting something on top and sand it back down but didn't do a good enough job? There is most definitely shading brushed over it.

If she is 18+, then it's good enough. I hardly care for what "age" they are after 18.

    Mine has no such problems

    lovin' it. =D

Only complain is that she's too tall to fit in my figure cabinet, so she proudly stands on my study desk amidst the sea of papers that makes up of my university life.

I think I would commit some type of murder to get my hands on these two. I have the money to get the new one (can't find the first one anywhere in stock), but I'm in need of a new computer, so technically I'm broke.

Sucks that you got one with defects though.
