How to detect a rare & try discount figures ??

while when i was in that Convention yesterday, i was encounter a rare figure & do discount all means...so i got:
4 "Altier-sai" 80's S.M.S bubble gum crisis (4 characters)
2 otakuzine magazine.
1 "martian sucessor nadesico plastic fan & a joint bolted figure..
Here's some hint's to how to negotiate discount, in short "Cheapstake technique".. in some convention.
1)when see your fave figure,try to talk wisely & don't aggressive.
2)try lurk sometimes & back again,maybe the collector who sell some figure might call you & try discount the price..(you can request to discount but beware to don't discount more,just few is good).
3)if the figure did not buy until closing time,the seller of figure surely do some discount & if he/she discount the figure sale,try no.2...just patience & don't be aggressive..
Happy discounting ^|||^

Another good way to get lower prices is chance. I got my Asuka revoltech for 15 usd on the last day of AX09. Of course, you have to take a chance and hope the figure you want is still there. I also ask about the initial price and then ask if I can shave off a couple of bucks. If they say no, I leave and come back and try again. 9 out of 10 times this worked for me and I got at least 6 dollars off of my figure.
he he,same too, i do that & talk wisely to the seller to negotiate..but sometimes,it fail if try to fuzzy things the seller & do mad..
we definitely tried to get discounts at the artist ally on the last day
Yea artist alley's prices went down a considerable amount on the last day.
i get 10-15% discount for any gunpla at this 1 shop i go to. the guy who owns the place knows i adore my gunpla :)
Same here :] Once I went to my local hobby shop and this guy was haggling for a discount saying "cmon ! Im your best customer !" The owner pointed at me and said "No, He is." lol I usually get 15-20% off when I buy gunpla and figures from that guy. It keeps me coming back :]
One technique I use is look all "I want it" when asking the price... If its too high for me.. I look all depressed and walk away... then people drop the price ^_^.. Really good technique I use when buying *cough*pirated*cough* DVDs.
Seriously dude.. Most people know this stuff and it's called "haggling" btw xD
I don't think your lurking part works, you might return and see the figure gone already. >_>
I am serious, lucky if you buy a low price figure..
i forgot...try to talk to the seller & say "Please stock these for a while"..i do that if i want to get & try to request to lowering the price..
Trust me, jowy's haggling skills are beyond superhuman. XD
As for me, I just bluff and say the other guys' selling for a lower price. They'd usually whip out a calculator and calculate based on the Yen price. If my bluff works, they'd chop off the entire shipping cost then a 5-10% discount. That usually works for local hobby shops here.
As for booths at cons, being a pretty boy always helps me out. READ: Stare them down until you get the price you want.
Where in my statement above did I say anything 'bout jowy's haggling skills xD
If your bluff fails, you end up looking like a fool when the shop owner says " Fine. Go buy it over there then."
if i did not throw that darn receipt, no one can say i bluff X|||X
that's a stock..a stock and they sale at low price...take care of that thing in your house O.K?
Yeah I haggle when I get petit nendoroids.Got one for 2 bucks once.
I got this experience in Toys Fair at Saturday last week.
I saw Figma Hatsune Miku, asking the seller he said: 30 USD (WUT?! This seller might not know if this is a rare one, or he just wanted to "cash in" all of his stuff ASAP) I'm so happy, however I still want to see his other Figma collection and if I buy two I might got discount.
BUT, when I put down Figma Miku to pick another Figma (my other hand is holding camera), someone next to my friend just snatch it in front of me, and pay the seller. WTF?! (T_T)
You did put it down, it would have been a different matter if he got it off from your hands..
I wish my left hand not holding a camera that time T_T
That's some evil person. Guess that he really wanted it. ^ ^;
I just pay what the seller wants and I get a discount, sicne I pray for a good deal. last time, I asked about someone telling me 35 dollars for a 150 dollar revoltech bundle. (All the Macross figures)
you are all doing it wrong.
IF you want to know how to get lower price, just watch Master ritsu in K-on season 1 episode 2.
OR.....have your family be the parent company of the chain store
