impressions on the first Master Grade I ever built
I've been building gunplas since 1999 but more seriously in the last 4 years. I never considered doing MG before because of all the dust collecting displaying figures make and the fact that they might not look as good as some figures or whatever, but now I don't think this way anymore. I dust and clean my figures and models quite often and since I built my 1/160 Wing Zero I gained experience and felt the time to move to MG had finally came. So without further waiting, this is my MG Exia Gundam ignition finally completed. It took me about 16 hours in total but it spanned on a three months time span! Some of you might have seen some work in progress post over the time. I'm seriously considering getting an airbrush soon. Paint was very minimal on this model. I topcoated it with Tamiya Flat and putted minimal decals.( I don't really like decals on non-UC and non-ver.Ka suits. It's just my opinion and taste) Feel free to C&C and share your first MG experience please!

I didn't solder the wires because I can still take the head off and put the repair parts. I'm trying to fit very small LEDs I got on HLJ in the eyes so the red and green one can lit. Future project...

With it's little brother!

Nice.. Your build is very very clean. :3
Btw, where the heck did you get the idea that "MGs might not look as good as some figures". xD Y'know MGs are way better than 1/100s.. ;D
ill be pissed off if they brought out astraea conversion parts for the mg exia xD
Agreed, MG owns HG.
Cooooooooooool!
I think I still need to SAVE!
Got so many projects this winter...
Good lord.. that brings back memories. If I remember correctly, my first MG was either the Zeta version 1 or the Titans RX-178.
why is gundams stand most always up poo port hole?? :P
if you got a better idea, we gunpla enthusiasts would like to hear it :)
oh wait, theres already a stand where you dont need to jab them in the "loins" to make them airborne :)
LOL its not the the lions :d its the crotch :D:D
Lovely work on your first MG. I love the head LEDs you added. For me, my first MG experience was a Aile Strike Gundam, the Exia Ignition Mode was my second. So how do you feel about MGs now that you've built one?
Thanks!! I just loved the experience! I got my second MG now and have started by doing the head and placing LEDs in it too...lol It's Wing Gundam Zero custom (Endless Waltz). I'm planning to ad a LED for the chest camera and inside the cockpit too to reproduce the Z.E.R.O. system in acting and reflecting on Heero. MG are way better in term of quality and overall proportions compared to the normal 1/100. I really wish I would have entered the AFA World Gunpla competition with and awesome suit so I could have won and asked Bandai to make a MG of XXXG-01W Wing Gundam (non-ver.Ka) !! lol
Why won't Bandai give Exia eyes on the head? It's a big mystery because they can do it to season 2 Designer colour MS...
Oops...I meant LEDs on the head.
I know, but the fact that most 1/100 have clear plastic for the eyes make me feel like Bandai intentionally did that so modders could custom them. A pain in the butt for those who do really know how to do it if you ask me...
Came out good.
Good work! I was planning to break down and get a MG Exia myself. But do you have any instructions on how to install the LEDs into the head? I think I wanna try that too!
hmm, At east go with a 3mm LED or smaller. For me, I didn't solder the wires for that suit compared to my other suits because I'm planning on doing the same thing for the ''re'' parts and adding red and green LED for the right and left eye. You have to get a small hand drill for hobby kits and you have to don't mind piercing holes to pass the wires. It's kind of easy to do but it always depends on the tools you have and the faith you have in yourself not ruining your model... I posted a few pics on how to do it in a previous work in progress post, feel free to check it out.
you got the web address for that?
hmm, http://www.figure.fm/post/en/3517/Recent+loot+work+in+progress+and+special+thanks.html
third picture. Then after that there's not much since I didn't do the usual circuitry.
Thanks a lot for the link! But I'm curious though, if you didn't solder, how'd you make the connection from the wire to the LED? And I wanted to ask what's the power source you're using anyways (button battery, 9V, USB)???
Sorry for bery bery late reply. I only twisted the wires for now and usually my Gundams are connected via USB, but I have a mobile power source too.( 9V battery with resistors.)
OMG it lights.
super sexxah.
