A Dress for Mariko

A few months ago, my dear best friend Erin (known as Eri on here, blogger of Belle on Anime), got her friend Dollfie Dream, Yukino, named Mariko. It was going to be a while before she was able to get any outfits for her daughter, however, so I decided to try making doll clothes by making a simple dress for her. I sewed it all by hand with a sort-of pattern made by myself; the bottom hem of the dress is unfinished and uneven, but the rest of it is neatly hemmed up... but there is no lining, either. It is a pale lavender, so hopefully staining would not be too likely, anyways.

These are photos I took back in September when I first finished the dress. Sorry for the blurry shots, I don't have a tripod and am still trying to figure out how to get the best results from my camera.

I love shots like this that show off the long legs of the dollfies. :3

Wanted to try to get the feel that she was leaning against the railing for a photo, perhaps by a river?

    Cute dress! In fact, it kind of makes me think of 50's swing skirts--in my mind it's just begging for a little poodle on the skirt and a contrasting crinoline. XD But then again, I've been plotting a 50's outfit for whatever Dollfie I get whenever I get her, so it's on my mind.

      Thank you! And oh god, I am going to have to make a poodle skirt for my dollfie when she comes. I love 50's style dresses!

        You're welcome! And yeah, I love them too. Though since I'm mostly eyeing licensed DDs, I may alter the poodle to something a little more appropriate for the character--Arf for Fate, for instance, or maybe a little ferret for Nanoha. Oooh, and maybe a mutant leek dog for Miku if they ever make her. . .

      Thanks! What kind of dress did you make? I made this one by connecting a circle skirt to a fitted-top with that band around the middle, so it was really pretty simple. ^^;;

    I got on figure.fm, and saw the picture and the title and was like. "Someone has a dollfie named Mariko too? That looks...exactly like my Mariko. Wearing my Mariko's dress. What's going on here!?"

    I adore the dress, even though Mariko has "real" clothes now X3

      Hahahaha, I had a feeling that would happen. I was just going through photos on my computer last night and wanted to post these. XD;

      I'm glad! I should hem the edge eventually, though, haha.

    Her wig is so lovely, you styled her hair in such a pretty fashion! And you're lucky you can sew and make clothes for your daughter, I'm not good with a needle >.<

      That is Yukino's default wig so I didn't really do anything to it. ^^;; Thank you, though!
