AmiAmi now trialling SAL shipping

AmiAmi's new international site has caused quite a stir with its excellent prices, but many figure fans have complained that they only offer EMS shipping. EMS is fast, but can be quite expensive, so it's understandable that some people are happy to wait longer for their loot if it means the price is cut.

Well, cash-strapped otaku can now enjoy AmiAmi's lower stock prices with the extra savings of SAL, as they are trialling the service. I figured that most of those who would be interested in this news would also be people who aren't visiting AmiAmi, so for your benefit here's what they have to say about it:

"Now we start to accept "SAL small packet registered" on trial to meet many customers' requests.
Though we will add about 700 yen as the registered fee and our handling charge to the normal SAL shipping rate, the shipping cost of the items less or equal 2kg must be lower.
If you wish SAL Registered shipping, please write "Request for SAL Registered shipping if possible" when you order.
Please remember, "SAL Registered" may be more reliable than normal SAL(not registered), but not so much as "EMS" is, SAL shipping takes more days to be delivered, and SAL is not available for some countries such as Korea ,Taiwan. Thank you!"

*grumbles* Not much good when the stuff I WANT at Amiami are all sold out or temporarily out of stock. Here's hoping that the stuff I'm planning to order on the site gets replenished, soon.

I'm impressed that they had Drossel in stock for sale, figma and nendoroid both.

cool SAL shipping has been added.
it would be crazy to have only EMS when you buy something that could lower value then the shipping cost.

oh sweet! SAL shipping! Thanks for the info! Definitely gonna check them out.

Though I'm a bit confused now - so they tack on an extra 700 yen for SAL registered? Does that mean they don't do regular SAL shipping, and only SAL registered?

That seems to be what they're indicating, but yeah, it's a little confusing. They seem to be very willing (and quick) to try customer suggestions though, so who knows where this will lead?

There are one or two things I like from AmiAmi, probably preorder some stuff at a later date. I guess EMS would do as its close enough to xmas? Still I'll use SAL, saving money is important.

It's nice they have SAL, but with their cheap prices, I'm okay with EMS, even if I'm a cheap person who pretty much never uses it.

That's nice that they are listening to customers. I generally use EMS since I'm paranoid, but it's good to have the option. I have Kotobukiya's Riannon and Umineko no Naku Koro Ni Alliance of the Golden Witch ordered from them. Nice prices. Good to see another place open for overseas business :) More options can only be a good thing.

May give this a try next time around, but with 700 Yen tacked onto SAL I won't bother shuffling my current orders around.

I just placed an order with Amiami to get my hands on that Airi revoltech I am missing. However, with 700 yen stacked on top of normal SAL, how much can you really save per shipment? Shipping cost generally go into that void zone that I seldom go back and check.

I think that 700yen includes handling fees also. If I'm not mistaken, they do charge handling fees on top of EMS shipping too.
