What Would YOU Do?

Well, Okay if you purchased a figure, which later turned out to be fake/bootleg.
(No, the post's header is not a fake. Just a header)

Would you?

If you discarded, how? Dump, A friend, Sell it cheaply stating it's fake, ECT;

If I ever got a fake, I would probably discard it, as I would strangely find it depressing to keep.

Why would someone throw something out that they paid for ?

I know most/all people would keep it.
I would probably offer it to a friend first. Unless it was utterly horrible.

LOL. I know what that's like. But honestly, I didn't know for a while that I had a fake figure. Cause I always thought it looked good. So, I was like "meh.." and kept it. Throwing it away would be stupid, cause that would just mean you'd lose money for nothing. And complaining with the seller doesn't do anything, cause they'll deny everything. And there's no real way to prove they are selling fakes. Giving them a picture of your item would yield no results, as they can just deny it.

Well some bootlegs can look pretty ugly so whats the use of displaying it? It'll look out of place with the rest of your authentic collection.

I would totaly hit the seller up about it, then if I couldn't get a refund, like custom the figure or something, *shrugs* but I always buy from good online suppliers so have never had that problem.

      Agreed.

But first would try to get a refund. I don't want my money going to people other than the ones who worked to make the figure possible. :| The sculptor, the others at the company, even those who created the character design, they are the ones who were responsible for giving us our wonderful stuff. :D

I'd give the fake to some of my friends that don't know the difference like us.

But it's better not take risk and always but at reliable on-line shops like HobbySearch, HLJ, Cdjapan, etc. where I did never have a problem until now.

Would keep it as a reminder to where/whom I got it from. Then make comics about it with my nendo/figmas sacrificing/bullying it and advertising the supplier over and over to remind fellow readers to not go to that site/source! Even if it's broken/fake, u can still have with it!

Like my broken waist drossel >_<

I recently ordered a nendo hatsune Miku through Amazon and it turn out to be a bootleg. Good thing it was through amazon, they were able to pressure the vendor into issuing me a refund. But if I got stuck with it, I dunno, target practice maybe.

I buy carefully when it comes to my older Nendo's via e-bay and never review the seller till after I have had a good long look at the product to be sure its the real deal. No problems yet, but I would most definately nail the seller with a bad feedback for the sale if I got a bootleg.

A small hand full of bad ratings can really destroy most e-bay stores and private sellers alike so it really isn't worth the risk on their part to gamble with selling boot legs.

If I paid a lot for it I would probably try and get a refund. I always use PayPal on eBay, so it's a hassle but often possible to get a refund if thing go wrong. If not, I'm not sure whether I'd throw it out or not. The materials can be toxic so I might throw it away out of paranoia.

Heh, yeah, same here. If I dish out the money for a figure, usually that means I was impressed enough that I thought I could never, ever do better myself, so I try hard to avoid fakes. But if I were to somehow end up with one (maybe as a gift from an uninformed relative), yeah, totally custom bait.

Even if a figure is fake, it's still a figure, you've liked it before know about its origin, so why destroy it? That's what I think about fake figures. So if you don't want it anymore, it's better give to a friend who likes it, you have no reason to destroy it xD.

Okay, throwing it in the garbage is a stupid idea. Really stupid.

I suggest, either manipulating it(as if it was your test subject), and doing all sorts of random things to it(like a new paintjob, trimming the hair, etc, etc).

OR, you could act as if it was real- then chuck it out of a window while videotaping it fall to its death. Finally, you could show it to your friends as they stare in shock thinking that you just threw out a 40 USD nendoroid.

I haven't bought a fake figure yet... although I've been given two fake Nendoroids, and they're displayed but are separated from my nendo daughters. I'm thinking of using them as modification experiments... at least they'll be useful then ^^

If I do get a fake though (most likely online, I'd scrutinize them thoroughly IRL), I'll demand a refund and report them to paypal and where ever they were affiliated with. I'll still keep the fake for modification experiments :D

It depends on the bootleg. If it's hideous there is no way I'm keeping it. I'd first get my refund, store it away in some place I'll most likely forget, give it to someone because they can't tell the difference/or don't care, or just dump it. I don't have any skills on modifying a bootleg figure into something better so that's out of the question. I just can't display an inferior bootleg with authentic figures. It would look so out of place. Not to mention I wouldn't be able to appreciate or admire my collection with a bootleg staring at me. No thank you! XD

I've only had one bootleg in my collecting life (that I know of anyway ^^; ) which was a Sailor Jupiter gashapon. I kept it and didn't complain though, simply because it was a free gift with something else that I bought from them.
This is the original real version: http://myfigurecollection.net/figure/4796_sailor_jupiter
And this is my truly wonderful bootleg: http://myfigurecollection.net/picture/27835
    Nice, huh? XD

If I bought something and it was a bootleg however, I'd complain to them straight away and get my money back. No doubt about it.

Yes I customize my own. I've made a Maka nendoroid with fake a kagamiku once. :3 Of course, I bought it knowingly it was fake. I will never accept fake nendoroids. If I do, (which I haven't) I will leave negative feedback, email the last ten buyers, and do a chargeback on my credit card. Also, reverse it in paypal as well.
