Master Assassin Ezio (Assassin's Creed II)
Assassin's Creed II has just been released, and this morning I picked up my Black Edition. While the US received only one collector's edition - called the Master Assassin's Edition - other countries have been given the choice between two: the Black and White Editions. Here's what they each include:
White Edition:
- one bonus mission
- Ezio figure
Master Assassin's Edition
- two bonus missions
- Ezio figure
- hardcover art book
- DVD containing behind the scenes footage, soundtrack and more
Black Edition
- three bonus missions
- rare Master Assassin version of the Ezio figure
- leather cover "conspiracy book" containing art and insight into the game
- DVD containing behind the scenes footage, soundtrack and more
It's clear that, with the most content and the rare figure, the Black Edition is the best collector's edition of Assassin's Creed II. It's a shame that the US missed out, but at least they got more than the White Edition (which serves as a cheaper, yet still collectible alternative to the Black Edition in the countries where both are available). What's strange though is that Ubisoft decided to call the US collector's edition the "Master Assassin's Edition", but not include the Master Assassin version of the figure. In any case, it's nice of them to show the international market some love with a superior edition.
I've detailed the rest of the Black Edition on my blog if you're interested, but I had to share the Master Assassin Ezio figure here. When I opened up the rather large black box, I was amazed to see that the figure took up just about the full height of it. This is a very large figure, standing at around 21.5cm (or just under 8.5 inches), and the detail is astounding. There are so many layers to Ezio's outfit and each one has been crafted and painted with excellent attention to detail. Considering the size and quality of the figure, the extra content and the cost of a game on its own, the value of the Black Edition is really incredible. The figure alone is worth the extra cost, and I couldn't be happier that I decided to get this edition.
You can have a look at the "standard" Ezio figure here for comparison. They're quite similar so I think that most people would be happy with either one, but for me the black cloak and extra armour and detailing really put the Master Assassin version ahead.

I want the game so badly but the current gen's console game prices make me :(
Otherwise, I really want that Ezio figure. It looks badass.

Hey at least it's not $70+ like the PS1/N64 era.

As I said in the post, it's 21.5cm tall by my measurement.

Ah I missed that. Thanks.
How tall is Ezio suppose to be? I take it that this is a 1/8-1/9ish figure?

I'd say it'd be closer to 1/7 or 1/6 scale, it really is quite large! Definitely worth the extra cash.

I'd probably say more to 1/8.
21.5cm is too small to be 1/6 unless Ezio is really short..
I bought the US Master Assassin's edition, and I agree, the Ezio figure alone is worth the extra 20 dollars - if not more. At first I was disappointed that the US wasn't going to have the opportunity of getting the black edition, but then when I saw the detail on the white Ezio statue I was blown away.
If you look at the Gamestop images you would think that the white edition's Ezio is going to have bland white colors compared to the details on the black Ezio - that is not true. The white Ezio's cloth actually has different shades, so his hood and main body piece is slightly gray to distinguish between the cloth on his sleeves. All the fancy Renaissance details, etchings, markings, designs, what have you, also carried to the white version as well - so overall, both figures are of very high quality!
For a figure collector and avid video gamer, this is one of the best collector's editions out there, especially considering for an extra 20 dollars you get not only the 8.5 inch statue, but a bunch of bonus content as well.

Yeah, definitely excellent value! If you subtract the price of the game from the price of the collector's edition, the amount you're left with is far less than what you'd usually pay for a figure of this quality.

I really wanted to get this but was really sadden by how repetitive AC1 was (I also used my money to get Tekken 6 and MW2)...but apparently this is better and its got even more missions?

A whole lot more. The story is really fluid this time round, too.

I ordered the White and have it from yesterday already.
The Black for 300€ is just a way too expesnive.

Wow. That's triple what the Black Edition cost here. How much do games usually cost in Germany (non-collector's editions)?

Well: Normal Games around 60€ sometimes less sometimes more.
Special or LE: 70 or more. But I think the high price is because it were only a few left in this store.

No it was sold here for 80-90 Euro and that's okay for such a cool edition as the Black Box. I got mine from Amazon Germany for only 80 Euro for example. You are refering to those shitheads who got their hands on some more black boxes and who now try to sell them for lotta more after they are sold out.

That price sounds much more reasonable. I was thinking that 300€ couldn't possibly be the retail price! 80€ is a great price for such an awesome collector's edition.

Got the Master Assassin's edition early for the PS3, but was only able to play a bit before Left 4 Dead 2 came out. Now I'm gonna have to get tired of L4D2 before moving back to Ass. Creed 2

It looks great, and I'm pretty tempted even though I can't really afford to be spending £70 from my UK bank account right now. It would probably be a hassle for my family to send it to Japan anyway. The extras and the quality of the figure make me want to get it anyway, though.

I got the white figure. made a review too.:P
looking from the pics the black is different enough to get as well.
gonna check ebay if they are selling the figure only.:P
