MG Aile Strike

Posted by senseij [www]

Picked up another Aile Strike since there wasnt much else to choose from at my local hobby shop. The price was also hard to pass up at 35 usd. Not much special going on here, but I did a better job on this model than my last Aile Strike. I tried to see what I would get after applying 2 layers of matte finish topcoat. Besides it looking less shiny and better, the only difference is Im down two cans of top coat :[ I think I also got a little sloppy with the panel lines, but Im still happy with the way it turned out. I had a can of krylon fusion matte finish and sprayed the base and Im super happy with the way it looks. Sorry the pics are dark. I dont have time during the day since I have work and school during the daytime and work the weekends. My only free time is night time :/ The model this time around came with a bazooka which sticks out like a sore thumb when Strike is holding it. So I gave it to my zaku warrior :]

What's the story with the bazooka anyway? I don't understand why they release another Strike just because of one additional bazooka. Even NG 1/100 Tieren Ground Type's bazooka look better.

Actually the bazooka was used by Strike when fighting underwater (with no packs) MS. The bazooka only appeared in one episode only though

You should see the bazooka when it has all four magazines attached to it. Looks like a giant mace haha

Why use a bazooka in space when you have that cool ability to switch packs?

Please note that the bazooka was given to the Archangel's crew by the 8th space fleet (Or something like that, by admiral Halburton anyways), for use in the earth's atmosphere (Beam weapon's power decreases much more in atmospheric conditions, due to the abundance of air particles to absorb the beam's energy). Also, None of the Strike's weapons were designed for use underwater (The Strike was a space model), so a bazooka underwater makes alot more sense (Doesn't consume as much power as beam weapons). It could still be used to destroy Mobile GINNs, I guess...

beam weapons barely work at all underwater. in Victory Gundam Usso had to shoot at close range, and he mostly used the bursts of heat and bubbles to distract his enemies. in Gundam X, they learned the hard way that even their super advanced gundams were useless underwater against simple grunts. they ended up giving the XD an underwater Bazooka like this one, and upgrading the Leopard Gundam with torpedo launchers.
