Ladies & Gentleman introducing The Princess Of Japan .

秋篠宮眞子内親王 Mako Akishino (16) is real life princess Of The Imperial House of Japan has recently ascended from the levels of mere aristocracy to become something of an idol in her own right.

Theres even a moe video of her on Nico Nico Douga replete with patriotic (and some distinctly sarcastic) slogans and probably the cause of her idol status .

From her time in middle school, and now into her high school years, her popularity has grown on the net, aided particularly by lavish media coverage of her in various school uniforms, which naturally garners a particular response.

They show their love and admiration for the monarchy with something other than gossip magazines. Can't help but be impressed.

I like the full military dress. I have had some run ins with the Japanese Self Defense Force, but their uniforms are pretty much the same as America's. Do members of the royal family still wear the old Imperial uniforms? If so that would be pretty cool. I hope she grows to be a stern and serious leader. I hope she doesn't become some corrupt celebrity.

Japanese society is a bit different than English/American society, though. While there aren't any overt trash-rags bagging the royals, that's not to say they don't exist. It might even be more insidious than we think, if modern-day Japanese "Royal Family" politicking is anythign like the stories of old Chinese/Japanese/Korean royal family infighting...

And seriously, she looks like just an ordinary pre-teen child. Hopefully nobody tries to turn her into another Princess Stephanie.

She looks just like an ordinary Japanese schoolgirl, albeit a rather serious looking one. However, her life is anything but ordinary, isn't it? Probably can't even eat Pocky without a dozen questions about whether she's eating well in the palace and such.
