cosplay prop making process 2

transparent plastic for the centre "floating " purple bits

making indentations for the transparent areas

fitting in the hilt, transparent pieces before gluing it all together

basic inner part done!

side view.

making the Z portion of the sword. adjusting the angles was a nightmare, so i ended up using glue gun to join them to the hilt as best as possible

wrapping the Z parts in paper so i can paint it over

using spray paint on a piece of mahjong paper to make the fading purple colour. i busted 2 other bottles of spary paint, some Maruba brand, which was super expensive, but they all all fail. ended up using gd'old Anchor, which is more, cheaper and actually works

the center crystal part

adjusting position of the paper. i wrap it around the blade part since spraying directly on the foam will melt it. around this time i fixed the handle with a grey foam.

rough finished product!

my parents were worried for the safety of the sword, so they made this scabbard for me. was pretty touched.

that's all folks. some lol material for you.
