Nice case ! Its just like you said. Leave it inside the plastic bag. Maybe a mothball or two will help as well. I have some that I keep in the plastic and I also put mothballs. But as for the ones I have outside and stuffed with a pillow, I just have it on my couch. It doesnt really get dirty since it just lays there.

Beautiful! I have two dakimakura but want more (^o^)
Don't leave them in the bag! You have to spend time with them too so they won't get so lonely.
If you're just going to leave it in the bag I don't think you would need to worry about washing them but just in case, this is a link to Ven-Lesper's vid + blog about how to take care of dakimakuras in the case of needing to wash them. He also seems to be a reader at dannychoo too. Wonder if he's still around?

Though I recommend to rather hang them up to dry than using a dry cleaner. A BIG thanks to him for the great information. Helped me decide how to rightfully clean mine after 6 months of collecting dust on my couch.

I got my 1st dakimakura recently too, from a store in AFA09.
The guy that sold me told me to flip it over to the blank part before washing.
The washing tag that came along wrote,
    -Do not bleach
    -Do not iron
    -Do not machine wash
    -Do not tumble dry
    -Do not use strong detergent
    -Wash with cold water
    -Hand wash
    -Hang to dry
    -Dry in shade.
Maybe that's what you u do.
