Man Marries Game Character
Nene Anegasaki, a character from a popular game called, "Love Plus", was married to a man who is only known as, "Sal9000".
-Video below from Boing Boing:
Taking place at a "Make", (a meet-up in Japan at the Institute of Technology) a live audience gathered along with a real human preist, an MC, and the bride's virtual friend -who made a speech.
The event was livecast from Nico Nico Douga - a popular video sharing website.
The following is a letter that Ms.Katayama from www.boingboing.net, recieved from Sal9000 - the groom - after he found that she had blogged the event upon seeing it on Nico Nico Douga:
"Dear Ms. Katayama,
Thank you very much for watching our wedding ceremony online. Because of your blog post, we received some comments from what appeared to be international viewers, and we were very happy about that.
I had heard before the groom is very busy during a Japanese wedding, but this was much more than I expected!
Both the actual wedding space and the livecasting web site were full on the day of — I'm so happy so many people were able to witness this. There were over 3,000 connections and 7,000 comments made online, and the people who showed up in person at the ceremony also offered their congratulations. It was great.
Now that the ceremony is over, I feel like I've been able to achieve a major milestone in my life. Some people have expressed doubts about my actions, but at the end of the day, this is really just about us as husband and wife. As long as the two of us can go on to create a happy household, I'm sure any misgivings about us will be resolved.
As for what's next, we still haven't gone to see my parents, so we will be going home together on New Years to officially announce our marriage.
The two of us hope to continue to let our love for each other grow as time goes on.
Sincerely,
SAL9000 & Nene Anegasaki"

Bringing Japan to the rest of the world.

You stole it from Boing-Boing.com
Please give credit to the website and besides If I were there I would congradulate him . I don't see whats so strange as being in love with a Game character .
It's just weird they actually got married XD
0.0' ok....... That's odd. I can see being "in love" with a game charatcer to the point of always playing them but to marry one? Thats just odd.
Actually I was just about to add the credit for info and images- figure.fm's posting system doesn't allow someone to fully post before releasing it to the rest of the world. You have to make something as an object, save it halfway made, and then add other images and text.
So if you were patient you would have noticed that I added that eventually. :)
I'm a professional blogger and social media specialist. I think I know how to blog. :D
I'm sorry if I come off kind of annoyed but I can't stand being labeled as a pirate. One of the things I do best is feature news from around of the web for others to enjoy on my blog- ending up on figure.fm since I post interesting things on here from my blog. I'm experienced in writing articles that are posted for news sources, and credit is always important.
Bothers me much to see fellows that auto assume everyone is a novice, and those who act like they're moderators around here.
However- this is getting off topic now:
I think that it's awesome to see people following their passions. Whether it be a game character or not. But it does make me wonder what qualifications allowed the marriage of a game character- where I live, they wouldn't even recognize it as a real relationship.
there is already a post about this. it was quite recent too.
It's cool. I didn't see a rule about users posting about the same topic. Many people wrote about AFA.
I'm simply bringing my version.
yeah ok, the AFA is a convention w/ multiple events, this is just news about some poor schmuck marrying an inanimate object.
a harsh yet true remark. yeah, he's just like what you mention. But someday he'll learn.
and the object cant do anything except making the person happy..... i guess happiness is a good thing, but still he will start to realize that its all a fantasy and he will end up being butt hurt about it
you outta look a few pages adown if theres a post about it already before making one. some like conventions and gundam for example are exempted in a way. heck theres a lot of drossel posts but thats different coz some people make a story with their drossel, while others pose their drossel in a way which suits the owners mood
Plus, the Bride didn't have chance to say anything by herself when the Priest saying "Are you Nene Anegasaki, will accept this man as your husband, bla bla bla...?" I don't think that is a legal marriage. LOL
actually, the nene character did say "hei" after the priest said tht line. just got to youtube the clip
Wait, did Nene say "hei" because for this event? Or her voice came from in-game event which are not related to the marrage event...? :D
But seriously, that guy sooner or later need to face the reality.
dunno, i just watched the youtube clip where nene said hei after the priest said that line.
Well.... I'm speechless.....
I did a post of this a couple of days ago on figure.fm too. Don't have many pictures of the topic as you do. Check out my post of this if you want to.
Although someone already made a post, yeah that's pretty pitiful. I hope he'll find more than just that object or perhaps make his fantasy replaced by a sweet reality. *sigh*
i didn't know it was seriosu
well then since its a repost, ill say this, freaky sh*t is freaky
read some other posts about Loveplus sim dating game (coolmikeol, boing boing and some other links), seems to suck in even married guys - one guy was "dating" high school girl on his DS and he's married; seems like if your life is kinda empty you could be trap by this game pretty easy, married or not. we all have fantasy, some more than others.
its why a person should control themselves and not get serious with any game whether it be a sim or a fps to mmo's. unfortunately its hard to tell someone whose taking their games serious that its all fiction and it should be fun
Hmm...I wonder what would happen if some other guy wants to marry the same character??
I f i meet him I will crush his DS and the memory!!! I wonder what wil happen?????
and these are the honeymoon photos?
This gives a whole better meaning about "beyond boundaries" XD
... But wait, does that means that we aren't supposed to play Love Plus without asking him? She's his wife, isn't she? XD
XD NICE comment! I think he just told everyone else playing the game to back off. That still leaves the other two characters available for marriage XD
did he really said that??
No its something i thought of as a joke, but doesn't it seem like he gave off that message? For example "I married her, she's mine, so back off!"
I missed the first time this was posted...
Anyway, I've heard a lot about this all over the web, even non-anime sites.
What do I think? Well I think this is WAY Extreme! And not in a good way either. -_-'
I feel sorry for Anegasaki Nene! Looks like he took Chobits too seriously. Its alright though, I like the character Takane Manaka more :D she looks cute. And Im not crazy enough to think what this guy did can be call happiness, instead Manaka-chan will be Minna no Manaka-chan! XD *JOKING*
Want to know what his parents will think about his marriage. But most of all I would like to know what Nene's father(artist who drew her) thinks? I mean his daughter got snatched! I don't think I'll be too happy if someone did this to a 2D character I drew especially if the character is used as a site mascot.
Lets say for example a DC user marries Mirai-chan without Danny's consent *OUCH!* That means the Mirai-chan belongs to the said user now and Danny has to back off XD Danny has to get a new mascot in this case, well theres still her sisters too though XD dont know about Danny but I wouldn't be too happy.
What if Danny married Mirai-Chan?
I think that would be cool and creepy at the same time. ^^'
Well.. I think this is another sign of the end of humanity.. Really.. Guy's so hard up he's gotta marry a program? Really, Seriously!?! And he's going to go visit his parents? I really honestly hope his father beats the tar crap out of him. Its ridiculous!!
The Priest obviously just thought, wtf.. Its a paycheck.
Thats just sad.I understand loving a character but they aren't real. He's not going to be happy in the long run either which is sad.
this got me thinking, who is the photographer who follows the guy around taking all these pictures?
the amount of exposure this guy allow himself on the internet seems like a stunts to me
to think about that, it makes sense. Maybe it's an act of hatred.
Idk why he needs a videogame girl, it's not like his ugly or anything lol
Hard to say but I guess it's perfectly fine. I am just worried about other people that like that character. They might get pissed...Speaking of which, I haven't played LovePlus in weeks...Manaka is going to be mad...
