Nendo Misadventures Episode 1
Sat 2009/11/28 15:19 JST
Hello Figure.Fm Community! Here's Nendo Misadventures Episode 1 featuring Sebastian Michaelis from Kuroshitsuji and Hatsune Miku from Vocaloid. Both of them were my first loot for November or rather my sister's nendroid figurines for her b-day *sulks*.
Original article came from my blog: Shinkai Summit
Oh, and before anyone complains: YEP..these are bootlegs..period.
From the original post
I still can’t buy a new camera because of financial issues but still.. who cares? After all, the content matters right? So because of my impatience my sister and I decided to take a photoshoot using a 2.0 megapixel Nokia 6120 classic camera phone. Quite a weak camera alright but we were surprised by the result so we continued doing the photoshoot and seriously..it was more challenging than we thought. It was our first time doing so, suppose to be we were going to review counterfeit nendroid figurines and were done comparing the data but because we can’t buy a high-res camera and the phone cam pics blurs the important parts, we set it aside for now.

I hate to say it but your Miku is a bootleg. o_o
I know http://twitter.com/MaeAbi/status/5477131493 in fact i was planning to make a comparison review but i still don't have a good camera (from the original post) but hey...at least I have one ;D Will plan to make a bootleg review once i get my camera (as i promise commented from 'the tsunder's' blog) Also...they're not as bad as i thought they would be :}
is it because of the shiney hair?
the foul odor and the color that eventually fades.. (will post about it soon once i get a camera)
That Miku is a bootleg.
were reviewing more on bootlegs than original figurines..please read the original post if you're interested @_@;;
hate to say sebastian is also a bootleg...
bootlegs are now vast widespread and quite up to date.
not to mention there are alrdy bootleg of Ryogi Shiki Garan no Dou ver.
Sighs over 9000...

Poor Sakimichi TwT
check the shinniness of the hair and color of the face and the box on his blog
note: i own a nendo sebastian and the quality is ^w^
besides there are bootlegs nendroids of sebastian and Mellisa and even Zange-chan.
reallly feel pity for the author.
Is this why the title is call Nendo Misadventures when they all in the end found out the truth that they all are fake?
i think he is going to murder those nendos
Honestly they don't look too bad. He should keep them so he can remind himself not make the same mistake again. ^^;
I'm a 'she' lol :D
Oh sorry about that. Crimson03 referred to you as a "He" so I just assumed! You know its hard to tell since most male members here have girly anime icons! XD
oh yeah? u said he too. ur just as guilty as me! Sorry, Sakimichi-CHAN~~!! .. ROFL
LOL I called her a "He" because you did. :D
oh don't be..I already knew it beforehand. I bought it cuz it's cheap.. and for doing nendroid mini comic strips .. Is it really that pitiful? O_O; I think it's pretty fun, At least Im enjoying playing with these rather than to have nothing at all ^_^
Well, for most serious collectors buying bootlegs is a big no no. Buying bootlegs means your supporting the bootlegers and going against the figure companies/artists that put so much work into making them. Collectors see these figures as a piece art (in most cases anyway). So, yea buying bootlegs is ~serious business~.
But that's good that you don't mind. Hope you continue your Nendo Misadventure Episodes.
How can one know if its a bootleg when its still inside the box?
u do Otaku Vision on it. Its a Level 10 skill u develop for being an otaku.
definitely OTAKU approved,
100 points earned... LOLx..
Look for the official shiny sticker, inspect the box I guess, I'm sure there a subtle signs.
A dead giveaway is that bootlegs don't have any plastic wrapping with the figure.
you know there's one trick I use but might not be safe -
the PVC fumes from new nendo stocks are the same ^^
and hmm they come with whitish covering XD like this http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_EF46LEOOuC8/SvVcsF9JcAI/AAAAAAAAAqY/HkLPxoCKlNY/s1600-h/Image00125.jpg
Request to open it...
1 - color of the box
2 - printing of the box
3 - the paint job of the figure [should be smooth] (there should be NO SMALL blotch of paint or spot excess of paint visible]
4 - the joints of the figure.
5 - the mouth of the figure [if there is 2 color or sudden tone then its fake]
6 - old fake nendroids spelt the nendoroid inside the box as nendroid[fake]
7 - also as said sticker.
8 - check tsukiboard for bootleg figures FREQUENTLY. -[quite up to date]
i think tats all. =.=
Quite often, the bootleggers won't be able to re-create an exact copy of the box. These mistakes could range from simple spelling mistakes, box colorings that differs from the authentic version, misaligned icons/letters, and such. Sometimes, these are easy to spot and at other times, you'll only spot it if you know what to look for.
If you have the physical box in your hand, it's easier to tell if it's a bootleg by looking for the usual tell tale signs of bootleg figures. Unless, of course, the figure is kinda hidden inside the box, such as those Freeing Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi figures (http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10058506p/10/1 ).
If you only have a picture of the figure-in-the-box (such as eBay auctions) to go by, it gets much more difficult, since lots of eBay pictures aren't very clear. Moreover, you'll need pictures that aren't too small, or those that show a good close-up in order to do a proper examination, and these pictures may not be available. Stickers of authentication would help, though it helps to keep in mind that these can be faked. Not all figure companies use such stickers too.
In fact, I'm puzzled why the bootleggers don't fake the stickers as a matter of practice. Except for the holographic HobbyJapan stickers on GSC or Max Factory boxes, the rest look rather simple. Even if it's not a 100% exact copy, it's probably good enough to fool lots of people.
Hey cute job on the manga ^w^ !!
Don't worry I'll bring a Miku puchi for you when I return there in the Philippines ^w^
Cute comic! I need to get the Sebastian nendoroid for myself; he's awesome!
On another note, it cracks me up that some people here are incapable of reading. You stated clearly at the top of your post that you were aware that these are bootleg figures. Please pay attention to what's being said, and look at the posts above you before you say something x__x; How many times do you want to make Sakamichi-chan repeat what they said?
I'm pretty sure she edited that in after getting all of the comments.
If she edited it in, I highly doubt she would have said "before anyone complains".
YEAH except NOT. I read the entry when it was first posted. I remember it wasn't there. She probably meant to write before anyone "else" complains. I don't think ALL of these members would have left comments if she wrote that. People aren't that dumb.
And for someone who didn't read the entry when it was first posted you seem to be very sure of yourself. So kindly STFD. ^_^
I added "before anyone complains" because no one read the original article and shooted comments afterwards without reading it ^_^;
