Fake vs Real Figure [Saber Casual ver]
There has been a lot of talk about bootlegs, fakes and counterfeit figures lately. I managed to have a similar unfortunate incident occur to me.
This was what I found. Take note that the pics on the Right are pictures of the counterfeit Saber, where the ones on the left is the official Saber.

Genuine on the left, Fake on the right
It’s quite hard to notice the difference between both figures if you don’t look at the bases.

Fake
I found it strange that the fake figurine would have the name of the series printed on the base where as the genuine figurine didn’t. The one with the name does look a bit nicer as the name is printed there. The colour of the bases are slightly different as one is darker than the other.

Fake
What I noticed with the legs is that the surface of the skin was much shinier and glossy compared to the real thing. The shoes have some minor differences but it’s barely noticeable.

Fake
The quality and colour of Saber’s hair is significantly different as the genuine has a brighter tone in terms of hair colour. The quality of the hair for the bootleg is horrible as paint is dirtier and darker.

Saber’s ahoge (or antenna if you prefer) and ribbon is shaped differently, once again the surface of the skin is fairly noticable.

Fake
Another significant observation would be Saber’s eyes as the detail and quality of work in the genuine figurine has a high quality design, where the counterfeit has hardly any detail.

Fake
Best for last as we can see the absolute truth and difference of bootlegs and genuine figures. The lesson learnt today? Well, genuine figures come with a clean pair of pantsu. I thought it was dirt originally or some dust, but it doesn’t come off. Do all bootlegs come with soiled pantsu? I’d rather not know. Does anyone else possess a counterfeit figure? Or have you even come across one before in a store?

Bootleg Saber looks Dirtier than Ori Saber . SO just How did you get tricked to buy that Bootleg Saber . Ebay ??!!
Well I was 'inexperienced' at the time. Saw it in the shop in Singapore at Vivo City, near the Cinema booths and bookstore. Since I was new to figures I didn't really look out for the quality of the box, the official sticker and other hints. Oh well I learned a valuable lesson from this.
Ah, yes, I know exactly the shop you speak of. Just terrible. I picked up a few boxes to look at, put them back and told my friend, "Okay, let's go".
ahh. I know that shop too.... Very famous for that ._.
Interesting, because my Saber does have a title on the base. Yet I'm 100% sure she's not a fake, especially after comparing her to your pics.
I do have 2 bootlegs of Pia Carrot figures....they're just resin copies of the real pvc's. Still, the quality (given the price) is actually quite agreable, so I keep them around to remind myself to never go for the cheapest deals ^^;
My saber has the name on the base, i'm pretty sure she isn't a bootleg though
I was checking myfigurecollection.net and apparently there are a few variations of the base. Not too sure though. Maybe there were different release or a released version that was slightly altered?
For a moment there, I thought it was the Figma you were referring to. (^.^) Great comparison.
Now that you mention it, the title is pretty deceiving. Didn't realize until you mentioned it.
Nice comparison :D
Genuine @ss and fake @ss, both still look so hot XD
Thought the fake @ss need to take a proper bath and using cream for those oily legs... LOL
Oh is it the shop at marina square...they also sell bootleg gunplas too...
The only thing I could spot were the eyes. If you didn't mention those sections probably I couldn't tell the difference between the real and the fake.
Narh, umm when you see the ticket booth in Vivo City, look to the right and you'll see a large book store. Inbetween the bookstore and ticket booth, there is a small shop narrow shop with Star Wars stuff and models at the front. Inside there are lots of figurines at the back on display. They have lots of model military kits there inside. Not sure if its still there as I promised myself never to go there again.
I received a Sailor Jupiter gashapon as a free gift with another order from someone. She has a pantsu problem too. She has them covering her butt and covering her front but... Nothing in the most important place ^^;; http://myfigurecollection.net/picture/27835
hi how much did yo pay for the bootleg and the orginel version ??
It was a long time ago, but I think i paid around $25 for the bootleg. The original was a recently purchase but significantly much more expensive compared to the bootleg. I was wondering why it was so cheap at the time.
The first thing I noticed that were off are the eyes, but the pantsu shot of the fake is just horrible D:
Yeah the eyes were a dead giveaway. It looks fines at the medium distance, its only when you have a closer look you realize how crap the detail really is.
THE FAKE SABER .. HER EYES .. SHE'S POSSESSED BY THE BOOTLEG ONI!! Eeeee~~!!
well, the last pic of real and bootleg, it made me think this way....
Real:
Smooth looking with a clean pantsu that says this is an innocent virgin! X3
Bootleg:
Sorry, this shiny legs means that alot of guys already laid their hands on this girl
and her pantsu looked dirty meaning.....-_-
Lol clean panstu = virgin!!!
Shiny legs...lots of rubbing done!!
oh more than that...the reason her pantu's dirty...>:3c
I see where your heading at -.-
Thanks for posting this, I had a bad feeling there was a bogus version of her out there. Btw, did the fake Saber lack a holosticker on the box she came in?
Well apparently she was the last one in display, there was no box. *smacks head* I should have known back then >.<
Eh...i have this figure and it has the name of the series on it....
I got it from play-asia so i really doubt mine is fake.
''it'' as in the base.
Yeah I don't know what's up with that, there are variations of the base on the original figure on myfigurecollection.net, some with names, some without and some with a totally different base. I don't know whats going on unless there was a re-release that I don't know about.
Oooh okay what a relief. :'D
Can i have your permission to upload these on myfigurecollection.
I will credit you.
Unless you wanna do it yourself,or you don't want at all.Thats okay too.
Go ahead, I was planning to eventually but I lack the time. Go nuts since it helps prevent others making the same mistake of purchasing a counterfeit like I did. I lack the time >.<
sup all
i have the same figure too. the base of the saber i have also has the name on it. i am 100% sure that mine is real though. seems like there are 2 versions of this?
