A Peek Into My World

Posted by LadyUsada [www]

Hello everyone at Figure.fm! My name is Lindsay, though I often go by Usada since that is my name on deviantart, TB, and practically everything else. XD I really am a collector at heart, as even when I was a child, I wanted to keep everything mint in box (or if not in box, than still in perfect condition~). I've been collecting since I was young, and that is why you'll find most of my room covered in Sailor Moon goods. However, I have since found the wonderful world of Tales games, as well as the beauty in Japanese figures (especially those by Kotobukiya, Good Smile Company, as well as figures and dolls by Volks).

If you'd like to know a little more about myself... I am about to graduate college this December with a degree in Japanese language. I have lived in Japan through Princeton University's intensive language study and host family program, and fell even more in love with the culture and atmosphere of the country. I'm hoping to return to Japan soon either permanently (if I can find a suitable position translating and/or working with English speaking customers visiting Japanese websites) or temporarily through a teaching position. I am currently in teaching and might continue a degree in it as well.

Anyhow, on to the collection!

These pictures only cover a portion of my room and collection. I will be taking more photos, as well as a shot of the entire room at a later time. But for now I hope you enjoy these!

My Jupiter plush army! There are a few more that aren't pictured since I ran out of space on my vanity to set more. XD

These are the shelves above my computer. It's hard to tell what's all up there, but some of my favorite items are the Natalia PVC, Suiseiseki Volks figure, TotA PPP figures, and the Jupiter and Venus figures from Sailor Moon World.

I also collect anime Famicom games. The one pictured includes the Sufami Turbo, an add on to the Famicom/SNES system that holds two cartridges at once.

If you go to Manage Posts under My Menu, then click on your post. You will see there is an option called Manage Images, you can add more images there individually. You can also put them in a ZIP file and upload the zipped file to upload them all together.

May want to resize them to 900 pixels wide before uploading to save some time, as system will resize larger files.

Hopefully that helps. And welcome to the site =D

Thank you for the warm welcome and advice! <3
I will try to work on it from there. I saw that option earlier, but thought it was simply for replacing my one image rather than adding more.

      /attempts to do so now - -b

Thanks to Ultimaknight, I just added most of the rest of my photos successfully. \o/ It sure is different from what I'm used to, but I really like the setup for viewing posts and I'm glad I can finally contribute one of my own.
(and I'm glad I wasn't the only one confused XD; )

      Thank you!

Ah, I love all the vintage Sailor Moon items! It was the first anime series I ever watched, so it holds a dear place in my heart. If only I had more money to spend on sentimental items, but my new series and figures take up most of my money ^^; Cute room! I bet it's even more impressive in person.

Also, my favorite senshi is Sailor Mercury. I wanted to be smart like her when I was little X3

It was the first series I watched too! Most of the items I collected are from way back then, and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to get them when I was a kid, since most are too hard to come by now. I know what you mean about new series though. XD The past few years I've been collecting from other anime/game series instead. I took a glance at your room too, and I must say it's very sweet and clean! You have an impressive manga collection and that Furuba standee is awesome~

Mercury was wonderful too! I have several plush of her around here somewhere...

Ah, thank you! I love my room, but I'm going to have to do some serious re-arranging. My figure shelves are full and I filled the last slot in my bookshelf the other day. I need to get a display case, badly, and I'm thinking about trying to find one at Ikea when I go to Atlanta for Christmas. I don't know how much they run, though x__x; I must say, your room is very clean as well! It makes me happy to see organized otaku X3

Poor Mercury, she didn't make the cut for your figure.fm debut XD

Nabbed 'em all when they first came out. XD I'm only missing two from Stars, but I read them through Smile magazine and own those issues. Do you remember that magazine?

Also, I looked at your room and I'm curious... Do you only collect the Shippuden series of Naruto manga?

Man. I used to have them but I had to leave 'em behind when I moved. D:
Don't remember the magazine. I'm not old enough to. :P

I'm currently too poor and preoccupied with the rest of the series I'm collecting to get the first half.
I'll get it someday, but for now, I'll stick to Shippuden.

...Are you calling me old? XD *whips out the mag* This issue is from 2001, if that helps. But not many people knew about it.

Too poor is right (for all of us). Manga in America is so expensive!

I have a particular interest in rare/unusual items when it comes to Sailor Moon. XD Some of my favorite of the SM items include the Stallion Reve, a fortune telling orb, a toy iron with Chibi-usa moving inside, and a pizza parlor and bike. XD I also own a can of expired SM spaghettios from Canada ;D

I love the Outer Senshi too! Neptune was my favorite of the bunch, and I thought her relationship with Haruka was so sweet. Do you have photos of your cosplay?

If you're looking for a good manga, Sailor Moon is definitely one of them. However, if you're looking for a good anime, I can't exactly give the same response. XD The story to SM is good and the characters are loveable, but the anime is chuck full of fillers. It's geared towards a younger audience than the manga, that's for sure (probably why I loved it as a kid, but might not have gotten as much into it if the current me saw it for the first time).

      Anyways, thanks!

XDD I've seen collections of SM way bigger than mine on the web, so I feel like this isn't that much. But those collections were probably what inspired me to start. It's just sad that most SM merchandise (from Japan) is too expensive to consider buying anymore.

Nice to see another Sailormoon collection! I collect mostly the plushies, anime, manga and some of the artbooks. I also have a few lunchboxes, chopsticks, drinking glasses, tea cups and bowls. My favorite senshi is probably Usagi (I love her clumsiness), next fav are Venus and Saturn.

I've studied a bit of japanese too (probably nothing compared to you!), I'm at a point where I can read and write but too lazy to practice so I always need a dictionary XD. I do have a plan to read the whole sailormoon manga in japanase some day... it's waiting for me in my shelve next to my bed hehe.

While I mostly collect Jupiter/Makoto plushies, my sister is the one who collects the majority of the Sailor Moon plush dolls in this house. XD Her favorite is Usagi (who is also my second fav), and we cosplayed Moon and Jupiter together when we were kids.

Gah, laziness is too powerful. orz I'd probably know more by now if I could motivate myself as I used to. It's so much easier to learn in a class setting or with a friend to study with. But anyways, good luck! You'll be able to read them all someday - -b
