Alter 1/7 Fate Testarossa

Posted by Ken Nguyen [www]

Well, finally, the long awaited Faito chan arrived at my house today. For quality, what can I say, Alter did it again, she is truly a sigh to behold among your PVC collection. Very very impressive, although she took up quite alot of space though mostly cuz of her dynamic hair flow and the giant Zanber.

However, am I 100% happy with her ? Oh no no no, no way, not even close. This is mostly cuz of her shipping fee. I nearly fall off my chair when I saw the invoice. Her EMS shipping fee cost a wooping 6100 Yen to the USA >.<. I could have brought another brand new PVC with that money alone.

Thanks for the photo, now I know I really don't want her in my collection. She will take up wayyyyy to much space to have her oriented in proper viewing angle or any angle to be fair! Plus we both know how the :o doesn't appeal to me as a bishoujo figure!

In your case, I think you make the right decision for canceling her Wolf. She definitely required a big lum of space to display her alright. My Fate is back in her box since I can't find any space to display her, what a dilemma >.>

I was going to say exactly that because I suspected as much, Detolf won't cut it. I am doubtful that even my mighty tower of billy can handle her. In the end, she is just not worth the money or space! Rina chan ftw!

She is the only Faito figure I have left now. I let all of my other Faito go (GSC one and old Alter one) so that I can gather more fund for Rina chan ^.^

Yikes, 6100 Yen shipping! But I expected it to be high since the box is about the same size as Hayate's.

How sturdy is the base with just those 2 metal posts? because it looks kinda flimsy and unsecure, especially for such an expensive figure.

The two metal post IS flimsy and unsecured unless you really yank it inside the hole of her feet (I'm too afraid of breaking her leg so I didn't try it >.<)

I canceled her because of the shipping cost. I don't think she is worth that much even if this is an Alter figure. I kind of hate myself for not pre-ordering her at a local shop. If I did I wouldn't have to pay the huge shipping cost. Now it is way too late. T_T

    Great pictures though!

Isn't she 1/7 scale? It says that on the box, but your article title says 1/8.

From my calculations, if you equip her with the Zanber form, Fate would not be able to fit into an Ikea Detolf cabinet. That would be quite troubling (well, for me, anyway). Perhaps she would be able to do so with the riot blades. Is anyone able to confirm this?

Are her twin tails made from ABS or the softer PVC? Do they feel heavy? Since they flow out all the way behind and are unsupported, I'm quite concerned about the possibility of them leaning downwards over time.

Oppp, thanks for reminding me. Fixed to 1/7 scale now >.<. Her twin tails is ABS I believe, since they are really light and soft.

As for the Ikea display case, I try and can't fit mine in it >.>

I see, thanks for the reply.

As you mentioned the EMS shipping is 6,100 yen, that means the package is less than 3,500g or 7.72lbs (according to EMS shipping rates http://www.post.japanpost.jp/english/fee/intel/ems.html ). That sounds pretty heavy for one figure. As a comparison, my package of GSC Saber Lily (Distant Avalon), MegaHouse Allean (Queen's Blade) and one other 1/6th PVC figure weighed less than 4,000g or 8.82lbs.

She is quite light, I think the reason why the high price cuz of the dimension of her box. I know Post Office does charge you more if the package is big in size even if it is light in weight >.<

Oh! I'm glad i didn't order her. I think her look is a little off but still a good quality model. It is too bad her shipping cost was so much.

This is why I do not order figures alone, shipping would kill me ^^; I got Fate with 5 other figures and a box of the Vocaloid Petit Nendos and shipping was barely more than what you paid. So in the end it all worked out ^^

Love this figure though ^^ ALTER makes amazing figures.

The pole is really distracting. Wish they did something like they did with Fate A's Version and added a sculpted base as well.

As I've said over and over, great figure, amazing pose, but amazing price and size as well. Furthermore, I'm pretending that the StrikerS series doesn't exist.

She is really impressive and dynamic. My boyfriend waited for her reception. Fate is my favorite character and i think that is the best adult version of her ^^

Shipping for mine to the UK was 7000 yen! When she arrives in the UK (left Tokyo yesterday morning) I'll have to pay tax & a clearance fee for the courier, so she'll likely cost me nearly £200 in total D: But hopefully she'll be worth it :)

Before determine if she is worth it or not, you got to find some space to display her. She is a beast, typical Ikea will not fit her >.<

I definitely haven't got anywhere to display her atm, the flat I'm currently renting is a bit poor :( I'll probably leave her in the box until I move somewhere decent enough to fit a nice display cabinet into.

Mine is coming via Rosarybox's eBay site. I got my Alter Vita from there without any trouble so decided to use them again. Was £89.99 + £24 shipping which didn't seem too bad (although possible customs charge too I bet). I'm think I may have to sit her on top of the detolf since people are saying it won't fit inside *sigh*

You already got your, nice! Mine is currently stuck at customs (like everything these days, boy I hate customs...).

Had the same shock, I was charged 7000Yen shipping fee, which is so steep that it forced me to cancel my pre-order for GSC's Canaan.

Display will be tricky too, but I have an idea already.

Wow. She's gorgeous, but a huge space hog! And that shipping. . . ouch. Still, if you can find a good spot to display her, I bet even people who aren't anime fans would be impressed by her.

I did hear that someone had to pay 6100 Yen for the shipping... Thought it would someone on figure.fm, and so it happens to be you. Sorry to hear about the hefty fee.

That's the problem about online shopping for overseas people - shipping is a killer, especially on something that is so large and when you are far away (surprisingly the whole thing isn't very heavy just like you have mentioned). Without a local shop that can do pre-order with no charging on shipping, I would more than just hesitate on deciding to buy, as one can buy so much stuff (1-2 MG gunpla, another figure etc) with that extra fee already. I must say I am more than just lucky for getting to pre-order to retrieve the same figure for a much lower price in Hong Kong (well my sister retrieved it for me since I am away from home right now).

Fate sure is gorgeous on all fronts, and a ridiculous space-hogger too. I don't plan on buying anymore major in the recent times, especially when I don't have much space left in the first place. It is quite likely that Fate will be the last scale PVC figure I will buy for now.
