How far would you go to collect your stuff? Will you 'tarnish' your collection by adding an unofficial product?

For instance, after finally resisting the urge of buying custom parts for my Primes, I finally gave in and never regret it, not one bit.
Part of this because I know Hasbro/Takara would never release such product, like fansprojects' or BTS.toys as well, in this case.

These trailers are add on to the Primes, to 'complete' them, since they came with no trailer, and ultra magnus just come with his naked self sans armor. Fansproject (no, I''m not doing advertising for them, lol) products are very professionally done, as good or even surpass even the official ones.

Previously I never even though of buying unofficial 3rd party product like these, I was on one track mind official-product-only type of guy, but all that are gone now, I even going to buy recolors of cybertron hotshot to roadbuster (which I usually loath) in hope that I can customize his face plate and body to resemble his G1 counter part closer
Would you go so far?

LOL. I love Optimus Prime since G1. Then the Nemesis Prime was just bad ass! Like a Darth Vader version of Prime. Nice comics too!!

Why would adding an 'unofficial' product to your collection be considered as tarnishing it? From my experience with Transformers, the City Commander Set, the Gears of War Prime Blaster set and other similar fan made things are exceedingly high quality and, I dare say better than the official products due to their limited production run.

A collection can never be really tarnished if you think about it. Even seasoned collectors of Anime or Transformers Figures would buy a Knock Off, for a cheap price and reasonabble quality, if they know that they have 0 chance of getting it. Sure, a KO can be a suitable substitute in many cases.

thanks, do I see a fellow transformer collector here?
regarding TFs it seems we'll have to make do somehow to make our collection look good.
I plan to customize a KO legend class hound couple of weeks from now, I hope I can record and take picture of the process :P

Well, I personally do my fare share of Transformers Figures collecting. Have a ton of Beast Wars figures from the early days. Never did really continue after that until the Movie line, then I did get a number of Classics and Armada figures. Of course, have a ton of ROTF figures now as well.

The Legends Devastator would make an epic KO Oversized Legends figure. (^.^)

I'm trying to steer clear of KOs as much as possible accept if I plan to customize them somehow. Still plan to custom a perfect G1 devastator out of KO g1 dev :D

Awesome. The only thing stopping me from buying these add-ons are the fact that they're so pricey. Magnus looks fancy in that armor, but the I prefered the Shadow Commander's color scheme. Bigger gun with Magnus though, right?

What I really want is the Superion add-on for the Energon Superion gestalt. Damn expensive, but a much better look overall than the original ("energon" claws for hands and feet? Yuck!)
