Mascot

What you are seeing right now is a figurised version of my blog mascot. She was actually born on dannychoo.com. The original character is Nanaka Shirakawa from the eroge Da Capo II. The year was somewhere in 2007, Danny posted a post about a Nanaka Shirakawa bust aka a figure without hands and legs. Unfortunately that post seems to be gone now so anyway, majority of the responses are people don’t kinda like figures without hands and legs. And so a member suggested why not just add the arms and legs yourself with spare parts from other figures? An idea struck me and I came up with this. The arms are from some random gundam and the legs are from Fauna. I didn’t have photoshop at that time so the picture was sewn together using good old reliable MS Paint.
The full story if anyone is interested to find out more and more pics of my lovely abomination can be found here.
Slight off topic: It seems that otakus doesn't like busts but in the west, most superheroes figures are busts and nobody complains about them. What contributes to this interesting cultural difference? ^^;

Did you got her from last week's AFA? :D
The arms... That's Strike Gundam to you! :3c
bingo bro. got her at the COSPA booth. this must be destiny! :3c
I like Strike Gundam's arms. Very generic gundam look. ^^
But those commentors in your buroggu are right... PG 1/60's arms are better fit...
Didn't you get an Obitsu body as well? Posability is endless with that... :D
Bust sculptures have enjoyed a very long history in the Western countries. For instance, a life-like bust sculpture of the famed Roman general Scipio Africanus is believed to be made in 183 BC. Bust sculptures can be commonly found in modern museums and other public places to commemorate noteworthy people. Hence, with such a history and familiarity, bust artwork are as normal as can be in the Western countries.
I suppose the artwork has yet to catch on among the otakus in the Eastern countries.
Interesting point about the busts. I'm not particularly familiar with superhero busts, though I do have some hypothesis. One is that in the west we actually have a long tradition of busts, going back several centuries, with the bust fad reaching its peak in the 19th century as far as I'm aware, so the concept isn't quite so strange in this part of the world. Another is that western busts cut off at, well, the bust, and do this weird cutoff thing at the back, which helps boost the impression that this is just a glorified head, whereas all the anime busts I've seen go down to the waist or hips, which gives it this uncanny-valley, mall-manikin vibe. The last is simple: as collectors of anime figures, we're spoiled! *points at GSC and Alter* Seriously.
Points taken... Eastern have oppai, Western don't... :P
I don't think that's what he meant. The differentiation that Poofiemus was making is that Western busts include the only head, shoulder and chest, whereas most anime busts include the entire torso. The breasts would be included in either one of these formats; in fact by the very definition of the word 'bust' they must be included.
What about the striker packs? Aile, sword or launcher?
no packs for her. ^^;
Haha IIRC, usually people bought resinya bust statue just for the head, since the head is attachable to doll body (Obitsu for example). I think if you buy the obitsu body, you can attach gunpla armors on the body
NANAKA! but close up her optical eyes look really weird ~
any intention to start the leg? :D
yes i do. stay tuned. ^^;
She's lovely Gordo!
kintaro the one who drew the first sketch of her! ^o^
^_^ I'm happy you're still going strong. So busy with school now -_-
first of all, thats oddly cute O-o
second of all, those heads can be used for obitsu bodies. isnt that nice?
