Otaku Manager
One of the most fortunate and enjoyable thing about my job is that my manager is an otaku. Like seriously O-TA-KU. We can be discussing various animes at work, imitating characters, making anime references, and just poke fun at the otaku culture all the while being slave-driven to do her bidding ^^;. She's actually a nice person and great friend. With her permission, I would like to show you her room which I think could've made it in Otacool if she wanted to join. More photos and full story in this post.

A view of the whole side of the room.

This is her husband's side who is just as much of an otaku.

Main manga library. That's her on the computer ^^.

Figures, gundams, collectibles, gashapons, and lots of stuff

Her husband is a "SIEG ZEON" guy (Zeeks is what they call them?).

Can't forget about the moe stuff too.

My manager is a big Vegeta and Light Yagami fangirl... a rabid one at that xD

She is also watches Gundam. Her favorite being Gundam Wing... especially the Wing Boys ^^;.

Gotta love Wufei's pose...

Her Gundam models.

The other side of the room. Wall scrolls. Gotta have those.

And the outside of her room. Her otaku level is like over 9000 and puts mine to shame. A fun manager she is, I quite enjoy working with her ^^. Any of you also have an otaku manager or an otaku coworker?

What a fantastic set-up they have in there! All those shelves make me want to drool. I recently ran out of room on my book shelves, and I have no more room to expand my figures either... ;3;
This is what I hope my home will look like when I have my own place! Now I just have to find a spouse who would be okay with having Dollfies as their only daughters...
A spouse, who is okay with that? Impossible!
I wish i had i someone at work to talk to about anime and manga.. figures. But alas! i don't even think they know about anime/manga they just all say "cartoons" that's what you get for working in construction i suppose.. /sigh.
In the deep south, it's pretty much impossible. No one at my college has even heard of Dollfie before!
I work in retail, so it's pretty much impossible for me to find anyone to talk to either. One of my managers had seen a few of Miyazaki's films, but not enough that we could really talk about. It's kind of lonely x_x
haha I am down south as well. I guess we are on the otaku frontier xD
It seems that way! XD
i see lots of shiny swords
Had co-workers in the Philippines who shared my hobbies, but not so here in Australia!
I often get: "Why can't you have a more normal hobby like Golf or Stamp collecting"...-_-
Then again, most Anime Otaku here in Melbourne tend to be way over-the-top. As in "Annoying screaming geek" over the top, so it's no surprise...
I get those expressions from my friends sometimes as well ^^;
ROFL @ wavehawk, i went to that Minotaur place in Melbourne and overheard two girls talking about Yaoi and hentai. It was during my trip to Melbourne's Armageddon 2009 >_< Minotaur is a nice place, but not many figma/nendos tho. I like my nendo/figmas!
so like, why isnt your manager on OTACOOL already? :P
Now that I checked the post, I meant to say she could've made it into the book.
sorry if theres any misunderstanding, but i meant that she could probably get herself into otacool had she posted it up before ;)
ah i see ^^. well, I told her about it when the thing was still running but she was too lazy to join. It's strange that she is not even a member on DC.com yet xD.
OMG...I also wan a OTAKU boss /hehe
Thats pretty neat! I used to have a boss in SG that i worked for .. and he watches anime and plays World of Warcraft .. we would talk about raids and etc after office hours. I used to give him a good supply of anime too, based on his specs!
Was more that a analyst for websites and hostings .. i was an anime analyst for him too! =D .. but now i am just another Otaku study/working in Hobart, Tasmania >_< However, my former boss didnt collect manga (thanks to OneManga) and was in a generation of Gundam building, so he didnt know about Figma/Nendos .. i nearly convinced him to get a dakimakura when i was getting mine.
Being slightly senior .. on the outside he says no, but i know .. that just wants a dakimakura!
Awesome setup. (^_^) Its cool when your boss, or any coworker, shares the same interests.
I want her Full Meatal Panic Trading figures ... D:! But that's very cool that your manager is an Otaku. She probably thinks very highly of you since you both share similar interests.
I wouldn't say she thinks "very highly" of me but I work with her longer than anyone else so she knows what I'm capable of ^^.
Count your blessings, it's not everyday we can mix our hobbies with our work.
Impressive story you have there!
It's like a manga plot, I mean, I bet there's a lot of funny situations going on over and over again, and her collection speaks by itself, a hardcore otaku-manager hahaha ^^.
Now, I'd like to see a pic of her to know how she is. Can you take a snap?
hmm... I might have to ask permission for that out of respect. And even then I would feel a bit awkward showing a picture of my MANAGER on the internet xD.
Why? she's one of us wether she knows that or not ^^.
But you're right about her opinion about it but with that huge collection I think that she's wasting it not to share it with others.
How did you find out she was an otaku? I think it's something I would be reluctant to bring up due to the general impression of what anime is... Plus it's not really an easy topic to work into everyday conversation!
It's not recently. I somewhat kinda figured out since the week I was hired (this was years ago). The first giveaway was that she was wearing a Haro bracelet so I asked if she likes Gundam... and it ll started from there. And we get along real well so it's not hard to continue on ^^.
It's great to have a superior with the same avid interests ^_^
ZOMG SWORDS.
Maya in mid transformation?
My manager heard me talking about my Gunpla, (being from Zushi, gunpla is epic) and he walks up and asks me if I had ever built a Ric-Dom, he smiled and told me to keep it on the DL
