    Easily the new one. After reading the manga the origional is jaring with it's twist on the ending.

    New one is better, old one was confusing at the end, especially the movie. Even though I haven't read the manga, I heard the latest one follows the manga storyline closer.

    I haven't Watched the 1st Fullmetal Alchemist and only watch it up to ep 13 because of some vid problem .

    When I had news that Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is out and is a remake , I watched it up until now .

    I've read about the story of the 1st Fullmetal Alchemist and it was not as complex as the manga .

    So in Essence , Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is better than the 1st since follows The Original Plot and Manga .

    Also , The Animators of The 1st Fullmetal Alchemist did a different plot because the anime is catching up on the manga and The Animator of the anime says He wasn't expecting The Series to have a very complex plot . So he went and Do it on his own .

    Either Way The 1st Fullmetal Alchemist was successful even though its plot is different from the manga .

    As much as I like the new series, I still somewhat prefer the old one still. The new series hasn't ended so my opinion might change.

    I like how the new series explores a lot of aspects that the first series didn't bring into light of cause there are changes but I don't mind them such as the homunculus dying and different homunculus altogether.

    Mainly what I liked about the old series was it had more of an emotional impact as it did have its fair share of tear jerking moments. With the emotional factor really being thrown at you I tend to get attached to them easily. The ending of the movie was pretty weird but it was still a happy ending but could have been better. Still it was a good finish.

    I'm just hoping with this new series they will improve on the aspects they failed on as well as explore deeper into the FMA universe that they missed in the first series.

    The first one was kind of a fail since they changed the story halfway through.. Run out of source material (caught up with the manga).

    Gotta say storywise I like the Brotherhood hands down but the animation and art is superb on the first one.

    I preferred the first one, I found it very intense and gripping the way the story was told. While the 2nd one follows the manga more closely (I heard?) the way the story was told (at least in the first 2 episodes) felt kinda flat to me ^^; In the first series I actually cried during a lot of the episodes ^^;

    I perfer the new one then the old one. I like how they sticked to the manga in the new one. All animes should stick to the original work. Well that wah I think

    While I prefer the new one because it wastes no time in going to the point (thus saving money and making action scenes decent), the lack of build up made some dramatic scenes feel a lot less powerful (like you know what happens to you know who).

    While I don't like filler, the various "original" adventures the Elrics had in the first series made you acquainted and warmed up with all the characters and you felt a lot more sympathy (I cried a lot at some moments). The new one is good but it lacks that build up; it's like "yeah ok let's move on what happens next".

    Also (and guys will hate me for this) less ho-yay?? unforgivable!
