for me, I usually do the lining right on top of the paint without coating first >.<
But the correct method should be like this, CMIIW
    paint--coat--lining--final coat.

you coat your gunpla before lining, so if there's a mistake when lining, you can erase with no worries that the paint will be damaged.

Also remember. that if you use markers that are alcohol based, it's a lot harder to remove the ink if you make a mistake, such as a stray mark. Alcohol based markers seem to be more permanent. Whereas water based markers are easier to clean, which means they're also less durable. Just keep those in mind while ur panel lining.

I do paint, GLOSS clear coat, panel line, FLAT clear coat. The glossy clear coat makes panel lining easier. You can remove any excess with a cotton swab.

    Ok thanks!
But none of you has any problems with his marker??
Mine is often clogged or something. Or is it just that I don't wait long enough for the paint to dry?

eventually, get yourself a technical (draftsman) pen with a fine tip, usually around $20 (us) avalable at hobby craft supply stores ( look at michaels, they usually have a 40% off coupon in the sunday paper, worth getting) and use a combonation of future floor wax and india ink, about a 50/50 mix, then if you need to wipe off excess, use a mixture of water and future usually a 60/40 mix 60% water.

    good tut, and website

Hmm think you need to provide more info though. What kind of paint did you use? Flat / Gloss. And did you gloss coat prior to panel lining? As for the gundam markers there are 2 types, one is water based and the other is a very fine tip one...so depending on your circumstances it can help to determine why u have smudges.
