Broken Doll
Finally finished another picture, it has been a while.

Some detail.
Broken Doll, A Clockwork Orange
The title is a reference to Anthony Burgess' book "A Clockwork Orange" - excellently adapted for the screen by Stanley Kubrick.
In the book, "A Clockwork Orange" is a book about the freedom of will (Orange = nadsat "Man" from Malay/Indonesian "Orang"), a central topic of the story.
I'm not sure if this is the right place for a picture like this, if not, please tell me, I will remove the post. I just thought maybe someone might like it.

Me likey very much. Very atmospheric!
hmmmm, was reading yer text about A Clockwork Orange and felt that I should correct something; this is from Wikipedia: "The title is taken from an old Cockney expression, "as queer as a clockwork orange"¹, and alludes to the prevention of the main character's exercise of his free will through the use of a classical conditioning technique." A clockwork toy is a wind-up mech that repeats actions and/or movement until it runs down, could say that it is "programmed, like Alex, the main character in the book and movie. :P
oh, very nice illustration. :D
Well, I am referring to this passage of the book: "Then I looked at its top sheet, and there was the name -A CLOCKWORK ORANGE- and I said: 'That's a fair gloopy title. Who ever heard of a clockwork orange?' Then I read a malenky bit out loud in a sort of very high type preaching goloss: '- The attempt to impose upon man, a creature of growth and capableof sweetness, to ooze juicily at the last round the bearded lips of god, to attempt to impose, I say, laws and conditions appropriate to a mechanical creation, against this I raise my sword-pen -'"
The origin of the term was taken from my version of the book, which contains notations on the nadsat terms.
And as you're saying, it is a central point of the story, the freedom of will - is being forced to do good better than choosing to do bad?
Very nice, that movie only makes me think of rape though. Since it seems it's most famous for.
yeh, the movie was very graphic, but it did illustrate visually what "ultra-violence" was about - A Clockwork Orange is probably at it's best when viewed on the television - edited, with CM's - need the relief from the violence !!
I'm sorry, I hope you didn't change the title just because of my comment. I generally have a different view from everyone else here at figure.fm so you shouldn't let anything I say effect you.
VERRYY nice ! that your own character?
The two girls in the center are my own characters, yes, in slightly adjusted forms - for this picture's theme (Steampunk) I made so changes to their original designs: I admit that the doll's shoulders are a reference to one of my favourite video game characters.
The two characters on the far left and far right portraits are slightly steampunked versions of characters of fellow artists.
Oh ok nice :)
