How does one prepare for a trip to Japan? =D

Puchi Yuki is real helpful at keeping track of the bits of notes that have been cut out... to be pasted on cards.

FYI, the card are for hiragana & katakana charts to make reading signs easier. (I tend to mix up the characters >_<)

It's important to have a sharp scissor for clean straight lines. And little helpers to make sure the equipment don't go missing.

Little Reisen-chan eyes the glue stick...

and wonders why it's blue. XD

The curious bunny girl tries to pick up the scissor to help... but fails miserably.

    First, buy a plane ticket to get there. (Or boat ticket if you are close enough.) ^^;

    This really depends so much on what the person wants to do though. If you're just there to sight see, I guess the having money, a map, and emergency contacts would really be all you need. If you are going to be there a while, well, that takes a lot more thought.

    You certainly don't "need" any Katakana/Hiragana/Kanji flash cards to read signs with because when I went there all the signs (that mattered) were all in both Japanese and English. Before going I paniced a little and worried thinking I wouldn't be able to understand much but fortunately Japan (or Tokyo in particular) was very well catered for English speakers.

    Hope you enjoy your trip by the way :)

    Hmm, don't worry about hiragana or katana, there are a lot of sign in english or in Kanji.

    Most part of people don't talk english, or don't want to talk at all, so hang with tourists.

    Read A Week in Tokyo articles from DC.com, and japan-guide.com or sunnypages.jp for a quick guide.

    Make what chun said, you need a LOT of money (US$2,000 week for me, with the loot).

    Stay health like gordon said, because sore throat and fever on the airport = 40 days on surveillance... so you waste your time. Some kind of Swine Flu special resolution.

    Bring a Camera, and prepare for the cold (for these 2 next months).
