No more MegaHouse on AmiAmi

If you planning to buy some MegaHouse's good stuff from AmiAmi English web store you will find empty their catalog, but just in the English store not in their Japanese store, that one is full of MegaHouse goodies!!. So what is going on!!

Someone received this message from AmiAmi

We "circumstantially" had to stop selling MegaHouse products internationally. I'm also sad about this. I leave it to your imagination what has happened behind the scenes.

Thank you again for your interest in our merchandise.

Anyone have any idea what happened? I have my guess...

It's probably because Megahouse as a company "sells" or allows license to officially distribute their products in international markets. A retailer here in the US pays a good amount of money for rights and official distribution here. AmiAmi, selling Megahouse products at a much cheaper price through their english site, which is aimed towards english speaking markets, is hurting the US retailers. That probably got back to Megahouse who may then talked to Amiami about it. Anyway, that's just my theory.

Correct, Mega House is trying to help the international resellers.
So the japanese stores should be able to sell only for Japan, as US only to USA... etc etc.

But as everyone know, not all places have one, like Brazil >_>

If it was because of adult-related figures, why don't Taki, or Griffon blocked also? They produced more adult-related figures than Megahouse (most of Megahouse so-called adult-related figures are usually from Queens Blade only, while almost all figures from Taki are castoffable)

Wait, the international market is helped by .. making customers in different parts of the world pay more for the same product?

AmiAmi (Japan) - MegaHouse Ranka (Cinderella Ver.) - 5,480 yen or 60.85 USD (http://www.amiami.com/shop/ProductInfo/product_id/147436 )
          OtaCute - MegaHouse Ranka (Cinderella Ver.) - 70.90 USD (http://www.otacute.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_6&products_id=3377 )

Whatever happened to whole capitalism thing about competition benefiting consumers?

Yes, the shipping cost would be considerable if you ship figures one by one across the ocean. What happens then, when the shipping cost is lowered by shipping many items together? That's when the American distributors start crying bloody murder and erect artificial barriers to keep competition away.

              Let's look at these prices:
              HobbySearch - Ranka Cinderella Ver. - 6,460 yen or 71.73 USD (http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10105002 )
Hobby Link Japan - Ranka Cinderella Ver. - 6,460 yen or 71.73 USD (http://www.hlj.com/product/MEG71242 )

Do the American distributors care about HS or HLJ? Nope, can't be bothered. It's the same price and hence, there's no competition.

I guess it can't be helped.

This reminds me of Sony shutting down online gaming retailer Lik-Sang for selling Japanese PSP to European market. Well, it'll be quite troubling for me if AmiAmi were to close down.

I read at myfigurecollection.net other theory: Figures are not allowed in some countries for nudity (Queen's Blade). Those being returned to AmiAmi and they don't want to deal with that type of problems.

That's why I assumed that it's a MegaHouse rule against the Cheap Prices from AmiAmi and soon other companies too.

        If nudity figures would start to give these kind of problems, AlphamaX, Taki and Yamato should be the first one to get this restriction ^^;;

It's too bad, and kind of strange, but I honestly don't think Megahouse's figures are that great, so I don't care.
